This isn't the solid pitching that's been leading to wins lately but we'll take it. I don't know the stats for sure but I know we have a very strong record against the N.L. the last few years. I bet alot of Royals fans regret not moving to the N.L. but you know hindsight is 20/20. A game and a half out of first with a quarter of the season over.

WHO WOULD HAVE THUNK IT

The Royals can beat you with good starting pitching. Its a good change from a team that in 2004-2006 had era's in the 5. The ERA is slowly getting better due to a 7-game losing streak. The Royals have had the Tigers number the last two years. They swept them in the last weekend of the year in 2006. The difference is the Royals are winning like they did when they had a manager name Whitey Herzog. Now, they are running, they are stealing and they are playing a finess brand of ball on offense. The defense may be as good on the left side with Alex Gordon on third and Tony Pena Jr on short.

Home runs is where the Royals have to get advanced. Steve Balboni's record for homeruns still stands. Joey Gathright was a big pickup move by Dayton Moore. Gathright has 10 steals and he can make some great catched in the outfield. Mark Teahen can play the outfield due to a good throwing arm but needs to develop a strategy at the plate. Alex Gordon can hit balls out of any ballpark. Gordon has to become a better selective hitter especially when the protection in the lineup is poor. Jose Guillen can do lots of things for 12 million a year. Guillen can catch, throw people out from right field. He has a great arm and also great instincts at the plate. Guillen is starting to hit. If Guillen projects to hit 300 and drive in 100 runs the team will prosper.

Mark Grudzelianek is a great leader in the club house. He is a guy who might be a valuable second baseman. he can make defensive plays and has shown to be a good two hitter in the lineup. Miguel Olivo can hit fast balls out of any ballpark. Olivo is the kind of spark the Royals need in the lineup.

very exciting recent streak for the good guys. nice to see tomko get a dubya.

but, uh, guillen plays left most the time. teahen's the right fielder, asif. if guillen's hitting continues, the offense may make up for the first quarter's ineptitude a lil bit.

The Royals are 10-8 the past two seasons against the NL. Im hoping they can sweep Flordia because going to Boston for four games isnt going to be easy

What a great start to 2008! If you would have told us Royals fans we would be 1 1/2 games out in the middle of May, we would have took it in a heartbeat. The rest of the division is down, but this is a great chance to pull ahead. We have a better record than the Yankees! WOW!
