BigD, could it be that perhaps the Yankees and Red Sox fans are a bit more passionate about their respective teams? Just a thought.

thats the same thing i was saying klingonds6 the board will be terrible if the sox and yankee fans didnt exist.  Usually a Yankees or sox game thread have at least 150 post per night but other team threads (if they start one) has about 20-30 post per night. I guess I see now why yankees/red sox is the best rivalry in sports.

Hey, hey, hey.  I feel the Brewers are represented on these boards by a number of intelligent fans (and an idiot or two, but what fan base doesn't have those).  As for game to game threads, many of us will start the thread on the Brewers team page to keep the conversation intelligent, rather than be swarmed by anti-Brewers fans looking to act childish and pick a fight.

Our passion for our team is what drives us to post wherever it will be most beneficial to our contributing fan base.  That being said, I did start a Red Sox/Brewers double header thread on the general boards, since these two teams hardly get a chance to play each other.  I'm using this opportunity to open up discussions between these two teams fan bases, knowing it will probably be years before we ever get the chance again.

Looking forward to tomorrow.

Sorry, Tribe585, I'm usually at work when the Indians play and have to follow the game on my phone. I did make an Indians game thread a couple of weeks ago, but only a couple of people joined me. Oh, well, things will be better in the playoffs!!!

In a word, no.

That is not to say that there are not passionate Yankee and Red Sox fans, but for the most part, the typical fan of either of those two clubs have an elitist attitude and root for them to make themselves feel superior.

Yankees and Red Sox fans have an "elitist" attitude? (Do you know how hard it is to type when your laughing your a$$ off?). And they root for them to make themselves superior? (Damn, early morning humor - thank you).

Usually comments like yours are posted by fans of teams that are perennial losers. I notice that you didn't indicate your favorite team in your profile. Embarrassed? Have you even been to a Yankees/Red Sox game? How about just a Yankees game? A Red Sox game? Any baseball game other than T-Ball? Go to either a Yankees or a Red Sox game and watch the fans and you'll actually realize what it means to be passionate about your team.

Or a Phillies game. Or a Cubs game. Or a game involving 3/4's of the teams in the MLB. Sadly, I cannot put my fellow Braves fans in that 3/4's.

Im  just gonna throw this out there... I feel like when I go to baseball games, a lot of people in the stands dont know anything about baseball. Ive been to many stadiums so Im not just basing this off of my Wrigley experiences, which is over 20, some years over 30 games a year. I think people that are actually at the games have below average knowledge about baseball in general and the team. This has nothing to do with how "passionate" someone is about a team or how hard they cheer for them. This has to do with knowing the game of baseball and how its played.  Ive seen fans boo players after they advanced a runner to scoring position with 1 out in multiple cities. I dont think you can judge a teams fan base for what people do at the stands. If you think about it, the 40 thousand or so people in the stands is a very small sample of their big fan base.

BigD, so happy to see that instead of actually starting a thread about those games... you opted to complain about the Yanks and Sox. Its a little hypocritical, by which I mean, every shred of credibility you might have had on this topic goes out the window because like the people you propose to castigate, you care more about complaining about (read: talking about) the Yanks/Sox/Mets than actually go through the effort to talk about another game.

People don't talk about the Phillies/Blue Jays game because NO ONE CARES. I know its fun to blame NY and Boston teams for every thing that bothers you about whatever team you might support, but your fan base (Dodgers, in this case) just doesn't care enough to talk. Its not a function of the big three (as I'll call them) somehow stealing all the room there is and monopolizing conversation; its that you, like every other fan of other teams on these boards, just would rather complain about all the press the Yanks and Sox get than go through the effort of having a meaningful conversation on other teams.

It seems to me that even when we DO discuss smaller market teams, we still see a very large percentage of NY and Boston fans chiming in with intelligent opinions. So the health of other threads is reliant on NY and Boston fans being present, as well. That must sting too, right?
