I don't know if any of you guys have noticed this, but isn't it weird how many former players/coaches end out working in the Chicago Cubs' organization in some way (most notably in commentary), even if their tenure in Chicago as a player or coach was short-lived? My prime examples are: Bob Brenly (None), Dan Plesac (1993-1994), Steve Stone (1974-1976), Gary Matthews Sr (1984-1987), Joe Carter (1983) and Dave Otto (1994).
Go figure, one of the most-loved Cubs of all-time, Mark Grace is announcing for the Diamondbacks even though he "absolutely loves" Cubs' fans. (Grace broke into announcing during Steve Stone's final season with the Cubs, so we probably didn't have a chance at him).
Obviously one could argue that this is "just a job" for them, but I think it could be just what it's like to be a Chicago Cub or in the organization. It's totally different than any else, probably similar to the Yankees, Dodgers or Red Sox.
