The wonders of 2 starts.. good luck if you're counting on him all year..

I'm just curuios. If you are bashing 2/5ths of the Yankees rotation than what about the Red Sox. They only have 3 guys too that are consistent.

You have colon who hasn't done anythign in a few years. Bucholz who got hurt filing his nails. And Lester who has been so-so.

Good luck if you think the Red Sox still have the best pitching. That goes tot he D-backs.

In this months Sports Illustatrated, the MLB Players Poll asked the question "Which team has the best starting pitching in baseball?"

Here are the results:

Red Sox ----- 25%
Diamondbacks ------ 19%
Tigers ------ 17%
Mariners ----- 8 %
Mets ----- 7%

...................................................................................

A bigger bunch of crap you'll never see.

Agreed....and I'm a Sox fan! Webb, Haren, Owings or Beckett, Matsuzaka, Wakefield?? No brainer. DBacks in a landslide. Randy Johnson and Scherzer against the young'ins for the Sox is probably a wash but Arizona has the best staff in the majors in my humble opinion.

Here's the top staff ERAs in MLB.  This isn't exclusively starters, but since starters eat a bulk of the innings it should be a fair indicator:

1.  Cleveland Indians     3.26 ERA

2.   Oakland A's                3.32  ERA

3.   Toronto Blue Jays     3.54  ERA

4.   Tampa Bay Rays       3.64  ERA

5.   Atlanta Braves             3.65  ERA

Not a single match to the SI poll.   Fickle sport we follow.

"The fact that the Blue Jays are not on that list is pretty ridiculous. Come on Tigers? Mets?"

Isn't it wonderful that Johan the Great has suddenly turned into Johan the Mediocre since he arrived in NYC?
