After serving a 50 game suspension for multiple failed drug tests, Jeffress was re-instated yesterday to Class A Brevard County and made his first start of the season.  I think it would be fair to see that he was a bit rusty after missing that much action.  Jeffress is considered this team's top pitching prospect but in his first outing back after the suspension he went just 2.2 IP giving up 5 ER on 6 hits while walking 4 but striking out 5.  He was victimized by the longball; he gave up two of them.

Jeffress is an excitable player that exudes confidence on the mound. He often pumps his fist into his glove before delivering a pitch, and matches his confidence with an explosive mid-90s fastball that often times reaches triple digits. He also throws a nasty slider, although the pitch could use more consistency. His delivery seems effortless, and he uses his lower half well when pitching. Overall he is a very good overall athlete whose frame and stuff has drawn comparisons to Dwight Gooden. While he does throw extremely hard, it remains to be seen whether or not he can maintain that velocity as a starter, as his fastball can dip into the high-80s. With plenty of room to add strength many believe maturity will help aid that perceived problem

The Brewers hope to one day call this guy the staff ace.  He has long way to go both on and off the field though.

I hope they can get pot head turned around.  It would be nice to see the guy in the rotation with Yo in a few years.

No joke.  But see: Scott Olsen.  Nothing but off AND on field drama, and this season he's breaking out.

I have been following Jeremy Jeffries as much as possible since the Crew drafted him.  My hope is he can stay clean and be a valuable assest in the next 2 or 3 years weather as a starter or reliever.  You can never have to many real good young arms.  Actually that is the one spot the Brewers are lacking some depth in, espechially in the minors.

Last couple real great live arms where Mark Rodgers, Yovanni Gallardo (we all know about him) and Nick Nuegebauer.  God I hope he doesn't end up like Nick Nuegebauer.

I feel a closer being born. HOW do you feel about his ability to come in and finish a game. He probably should develope another pitch but hell , they could bring him up in August and help out.

He would be a filthy closer, if he can continue to hone his stuff.  He'd be like a nastier Carlos Marmol, but no way that happens this year.

That is what I was thinking. If he can throw that hard , why not  use those skills to get just a couple of guys out. Can you imagine if we had a guy that would come in for the ninth and consistently throw upper 90's to 100. I am sure they are working on him to pick up a good offspeed pitch.

The one thing that I think is killing our staff overall is the amount of walks we give up. I have never before seen releif pitchers give up so many.
