Is it time for a trade to shake the bats out of their slump? The team is hitting .236! WOW! It is as bad as it looks. Thats counting the fact that we have the AL B.A. leader in Martinez! I would like to see a trade for a proven bat that we could drop into the middle of our lineup. (Jason Bay anyone?) I know it will cost alot at this point in the season, as teams don't want their fans to think they have already waved the white flag, but we have to do something.

What is that something?

I don't think there is anty reason to panic.  The team is in first with the pitching carrying us.  I know that they won't be able to pitch as well all season, but on the flip side, I don't think they can bat this poorly all season either.  There are four or five guys capable of hitting30-50 points higher than they are currently hitting.  It should come around.

I don't know about panic, I feel more of a grave concern. The team is in first, and they can't get much worse offensively. But, is it too early to shake things up? I think we need to trade for a bat. If it costs too much right now, wait. But, not long. Put the feelers out that we are going to trade some of our prospects for guys that can help us win now.

It's the last year with CC (Most likely) and even if Miller is as good as advertised, he is going to have to replace Byrd, unless we resign him. So, two new starters next year, replaced by Sowers and Miller. I don't think that will do it against the likes of the revamped Twins, Tigers and the White Sox. Even with a young team, time is short for a chance to win it all.

The starting pitching of the Tribe will keep them in the playoff race by itself if it pitches at this level for long.  I have to think the Indians offense will turn around because it really can't get much worse.  The Indians need to get a big bat in a trade and Jason Bay isn't the answer.  I like what I see from Kobyashi.  He should move into the closer role.  Why you ask, because he's been a successful closer in Japan for years and is better suited for the job than Bentancourt.  I still like Bentancourt, he should come around but he's more suited for the set up role.  Also the Indians need one more consistant bullpen guy to continue to win.

Personally I'd still like to see Bay.  He'd be an upgrade over what we currently have out in the OF plus a change in scenary would probably do him well.  I've said it before and will say it again.....Bay and Damaso Marte.  He'd be a great fit in the pen.

Another option is the Rockies rumor going around about Atkins.  Fuentes could be on his way out of colorado as well.  He'd be a nice lefty addition to the pen as well (could close in a pinch too if absolutely needed).

No time to panic......but I expect some move (or moves) to be made eventually.  Probaby not for a month or more though.  I expect the Tribe to wait and see what Choo can do when he's healthy.  Be an offensive answer or trade chip.  Either way, he needs to play some after this injury of his.

I know the Tribes bats have been suspect so far this season, but they're slowly but surely starting to wake up.  Garko and Hafner are finally starting to snap out of it, and Francisco is getting some AB's and making the best of them.  So with Indians having the best rotation in baseball I do see any need to panic right now.

Oh, and last time I checked Lofton was still a free agent!  lol

Bay and Marte. That might cost us a good chunk of the farm, but might win us the first championship in 60 years. From what I recall, the Pirates are not easy trade partners. I like the Atkins thought too. he is a big upgrade at 3rd, and they are said to be willing to take low minor leaguers with high upside for their two potential guys. (MLBTRADERUMORS.COM)

I don't think there is anty reason to panic.Do you still feel that way? I have heard rumors about Paul Byrd being on the block already. I would think that would bring back a hitter. Four losses in a row. This team needs a shake-up.
