There is absolutely no question in my mind that Ramirez should be in Charlotte for the rest of this season (except for end of year call up) playing shortstop every day and getting his hitting issues out of the way for next year.  This guy is what. . .  .26 right now,  has a lot of potential to be the Sox shortstop next year if he can get his hitting in gear and White Sox management is simply wasting him on the Sox team and depriving him of the opportunity to play full time in the big leagues next year.  Playing him at second base and center field is simply STUPID - the guy is a shortstop, the White Sox will need one next year, so "management" demonstrates THEIR smarts by keeping him up here and sitting him on the bench or playing him out of position.

Getz should be brought up right NOW to find out how he is going to do at this level.  If he can handle it our short/second combination for next year could have a head start  with time to work out any kinks.  Getz certainly couldn't do any worse than what we have at second right now and Ricard or whatever his name is doesn't look like worth a lot more attention.

Does anyone agree and if not, why not?

There is NO reason Alexei Ramirez should be on the major league team. He just isnt MLB ready. I dont know if he will be good in the future but I know he sucks now. Let him go down and work on his hitting and fielding. Let him play short because it doesnt look like Cabrera will be back (might be a good thing) I agree let Getz play, the reports I have seen on him say he is an overachiever that will not be a major league calibur player. You know what, let him play, there are plenty of guys who overachieve and improve the team. What do you have to lose? Look at the Cubs they have Theriot and fontenot, both are considered fringe players by the so called experts but they are playing well and helping the team. David Eckstein is another one who was a fringe player and has had a very good career. Let him play you have no other options right now.

Anybody who saw this guy play in spring training could see he was nowhere near major league ready. Simply put, he can't hit MLB pitching and his fielding is just as bad. He came out of what's considered by many to be a high A ball league, while some sox fans will say triple A, no one else will.  While some of the more foolish fans had him in the Hall of Fame.
There is only one reason this guy is on the roster, Kenny's ego. He is trying and hoping to show the other 8 teams he tried out for that he knows better.

He can play SS and CF at a high level, and can also play 2B, he's a valuable defensive extra, and even if his bat hasn't caught up, it's better than running Ozuna out there.

If he have anymore games like he did last night, Alexei Ramirez will be here to stay.  He hit two balls hard, one was a liner to third and the other was his first Major League home run.  He still has to work on his overall game, but as for last night, he had a good game.

There is a very simple answer to the question, the White Sox don't have any players , right now in their system , that they feel can do better.

I would assume they have Richar in mind to play 2nd base, but hes at least a month, if not more away from being healthy.

I've said before that I would like to see Ramirez play more.  I think he will now since Uribe is hurting. He's not going to play SS, it would make the Cabrera trade look very stupid.  Also he's with the team that likes players who can play several positions. My biggest gripe is,  if they aren't going to play him more, they should send him to Charlotte.

I also like Getz, always have, but I don't think they will be rushing him to the big leagues, Ramirez is 26 already and has a very lucrative contract. Thats 2 more reason's hes with the team.  In my opinion, their stupidity in signing Uribe has created this problem.   Don't forget, they signed Ramirez after they signed Uribe. They may not have signed Uribe if they knew at the time that they would get Ramirez......

That all being said, I think Ramirez will be a very good player in the near future.... He's already better then Uribe...

Alexie Ramirez does not play SS or Center at anywhere near a high level. He is a defensive liability ,even if you are really hoping that one day he will end up being close to MLB ready.
The fact is, he as about as good in the field as he is at the plate.

True to the book on him, he is a mistake and deadred hitter and he did well with that last night. His problem is he can't hit a curve or a ball that moves  to save his life. He may one day end up being decent off the bench player though.

WSworld1, Alexei has very good range in CF and takes good routes to the ball, he also has a very good arm.

SS is his natural position, he's not Omar Vizquel over there, but he's above average.
