Well here we are less than 24 hours away from the most important race in horse racing in terms of whether we have a chance at a triple crown winner. The middle jewel of the triple crown series is going to be quite interesting due to several key factors. First the weather is again going to be a factor, I was at Pimlico today and the track was labled sloppy but it was quite a mess. I have seen many sloppy tracks at Pimlico and this was quite sloppy, like running in muddy soup. I do expect the conditions to improve by race time tomorrow as the forecast is for a very small chance of more showers. The track will still be holding plenty of moisture tomorow and that could be a factor. The second key component in the Preakness is the fact that Big Brown will be 1-5 or 2-5 at best. Some of may not understand what I am about to say but the truth is the Preakness is not a good betting race. I do not plan to bet on Big Brown at 1-5, I wouldn't bet on Secreteriat at 1-5. You can't bet enough at 20 cents on the dollar to make the race worth playing. Exactas and triples will be paying nothing with Big Brown on top. So with that said I know many of fans out there will still want to put down a bet, and here are a couple of good value plays for the big race: #12 Gayego Win/Place if 6-1 or more, Exacta Box 6-12-13 Bombs away, or the 6,12,13 with 7 (Big Brown). I think there are some excellent betting opp |
