I'm kinda behind the times a little bit, but what happened to Jeff Brantley and Thom Breneman(not spelled right). I don't have any knowledge about the radio guys other than Marty and I finally got to listen to a game on 700 last night for the first time in a couple weeks and I get a new guy. I don't really care much about the second guy in the booth as long as Marty is there but I was wondering what happened to the other guys.

I know Jeff Brantley goes back and forth between the TV and Radio, and I think Thom Brenneman does the same. Honestly I'm tired of hearing George Grande and Chris Welsh's unending support of whatever the team does. They could trade Aaron Harang for Eric Milton and they'd be able to "find" positives out of it. I like Thom and Jeff, they tell it like it is and don't sugarcoat everything like the rest of our broadcasters.

I dont know the new guy that you heard last nights name, but i had read earlier this year that they are bringing in a new announcer to do somewhere in the range of 17 games this year.  I believe last night might have been his first game, but dont quote me on that one.

Jeff and Thom are doing alot more TV broadcasts this year, Grande and Welsh have been relegated to only a series every two or three.  Marty is on the Radio as always, and is normally joined by Jeff.  My ideal situation would be Marty and Jeff on radio, and Thom and Welsh on TV, but thats just my two cents.

That other announcer is Jim Kelch. He's the AAA announcer from Louisville. 3-0 with him  in the booth!

As long as Marty is there I don't really care who else announces.  I gotta have my "this one belongs to the Reds".  Definitely turn on 700 at the end of the game just to hear that.  But if Kelch is bringing some good luck I would be more than happy to hear his voice every night.

In what I've heard of Kelch- I like the guy (and not just b/c the Reds are 3-0 with him.)  He has baseball intelligence and a voice that doesn't put me to sleep...

Go Reds!

George Grande and Chris Welsh drive me crazy. They get on a subject or phrase and ride it to death.  This year Welsh is saying "on the back of their bubble gum card". When Casey was with the Reds they would start about 2 weeks before the Reds played the Pirates saying Casey was getting to go home to sleep in his own bed. Then it continued for about 2 weeks after they left about how Casey got to sleep in his own bed. I said something to my wife about it as the game before they went to Pittsburgh. From the time the game ended until the post game went off they said 6 times that Casey was getting to go sleep in his own bed. Those 2 kill me, fire them and bring in the real crafty lefty, Tom Browning to join Thom, Jeff and Marty on radio and TV.
