The butterflies and rainbow fans will be around for awhile....telling each other how the Tigers are just about ready to turn things around. We will be told for the 888th time that it is  a long season and anything can happen.  Then in early June, the Piston and Red Wing fans will start showing up. Fans full of varying SUCCESS from their Detroit teams. Then the fireworks will begin. Some of those fans will make the old Iffster look like a choir boy. Leyland and his flock of overpaid, over-hyped prima-donnas will be vilified and dissected. Dombrowski and Illitch will long for the more peaceful days of the Iffster.

Anyone else find it interesting that Ordonez can keep his BA over .300 and not seem to contribute that much?

IFFY

Keep up the good work, only Al Ackerman knows of your pain with these Tigers.  I will continue to read and laugh at your keen insights to this  team of ours and will here-by resign from making any more observations.

Dombroski and Leyland must go down with the ship.

BLESS YOU BOYS

Like a lot of guys in the lineup, Ordonez is great at getting that two-out single with nobody on base.  With RISP, it's another story.  Still, he carried this team last year and gets a pass so far.  Where are our other "big RBI guys"?  Guillen, Sheff, Cabrera... they're invisible.

Iffy, you and me and a few others will continue to be called "fair weather fans."  First I heard "wait 'til it warms up, and the bats will warm up with it."  Now I'm hearing "wait 'til it's 80 degrees."

But let's do the math... The one silver lining for the Tigers is it looks like 88 wins might take the AL Central.  Still, to get there, they'll have to go 72-50 (or almost a .600 clip) the rest of the way.  They had stretches close to that for 40-50 games the past two years, but does anyone honestly see this pitching staff going 22 games over .500 the rest of the way?

This team looks like it has no soul.  I want to see some players get angry.  I want to see someone start throwing things.  I want to see Leyland call out someone on the bench in front of the TV cameras.  These guys need to do a gut check and see if they still have one.

Many of the real "fair-weather" fans are long gone. Those were the 1000 runs fans, that were here back in April. I'm sure you can probably find them over on the Florida Marlins board. LOL

I have never been able to fathom why people can't see that there are other ways to be a REAL fan, besides shouting "Go, Tigers" or spewing the same old tired lines of  "they'll turn it around" or "this team has talent, so pretty soon......" I've been a Tiger fan since the 50's and I've done my share of "Go Tigers"......it is just that I saw major flaws in a team that was (according to management and media) a sure-bet for the World Series. I guess pointing that out invalidates your claim to being a Tiger fan.

Hopefully something occurs that allows this franchise to get to the playoffs.....but right now I don't see it. The real causes of the problems will start to surface and, while I have my suspicions of what they are, I will wait like everyone else to see what created this mess.

Meanwhile, I will renew my two quests: 1.  To find out where Justin Verlander parties before his starts. 2. Obtain Gary Sheffield's now useless glove.

Obviously unaware of those stats.  Good for him.  It seems every time I watch, he's coming to the plate with two outs and nobody on... which ain't his fault.

Iffy, being a realist and a fair weather fan are totally different, so i see you for what you are, a realist. There are several people here that get them confused. I am a Tigers fan through and through. I was in 2003 and I am now. And I like you see that this team is going no where. There is not one little piece of shining light in this team, except for what our young guys are doin in the minors.
