I never thought that I would be pulling for the Yankees to win a game against the Rays.

The 2-1 split in favor of the Rays is the best way that could've gone for us O's fans, and for Sox fans too. Makes the Yankeees keep struggling and keeps the Rays from getting too far ahead.

Aaron, keep that Avatar. That's my all-time favorite Orioles logo.
But I was actually pulling for the Rays to win that game. And I completely understand your logic, but I can't bring myself to ever hope the Yanks win any games.

only 2 times I will ever root for the damn Yankees... or Red Sox
1. We need them to beat a team to get us into the playoffs
2. Hell freezes over
Go O's!

I could never root for the Yankees under any circumstances. I would kick my own a$$ if I ever caught myself doing that. lol I refuse to even have a Yankee on my fantasy team.
The O's and the Rays are my two favorite teams, but I was into the Rays long before the break out this year. They are still my #2 team, but I love those Rays. I wish them all the best and I'm totally rooting for them to win. I love it when I'm watching a show like Rome is Burning or PTi and one of these teams come up. The PTi guys said the Rays won't finish at .500 while Rome says they are the real deal (which they are), but then went on to say that the punching bag of the AL East is between Toronto and Baltimore. Guess he didn't notice our record. I can understand the O's having to prove a little more than the Rays though. So often this year, the Rays win games behind scoreless efforts from their starters. Jim Hickey has really made a difference over there and from what I can tell, he has quite a track record. They are better so far than even I expected them to be and really, so are the O's, but I think the Rays have a better chance at staying the course. If they are beating the Yankees and Red Sox, fine by me. I won't complain at all. The division needs a new look. It was just as great to see us sweep the Sox. Good times! Being a Rays fan has finally paid off. lol

I definitely understand the don't root for the Yankees under any circumstances mentality. I don't exactly "root" for them when they play someone we need to compete with in the standings, but I view those games as win-win. Either the Yankees lose, and I'm happy, or we pick up a game on someone else, and I'm happy.
As for the fantasy team thing: I ahve to admit the Yanks have some classy guys. Jeter may be overrated, but if he played for anyone else I would think he was great. Jorge Posada would easily be among my favorite non-Orioles in a different uni, as well. I always did like Joe Torre, so I'm glad to see him out of pinstripes.

Exactly how I feel, and as far as Fantasy Leagues, when I used to be involved with that stuff, I had the computer draft for me and landed Jeter one year. I traded him immediately to the 1st bidder. Luckily, a Yank fan wanted him. I told him, "he's all yours!" I don't even remember who I got in return, but I didn't care. No way, no how I'd ever root for a Yankee, much less Cheater Jeter.

I hate the Yankees but I have a few on some fantasy teams. If you notice, the year after A-Rod wins the MVP, he normally has a bad season. I knew he would this year so I traded him for Nomar Garciaparra, Ty Wigginton, Pat Burrell and David Wright.
Mo Rivera has helped me a lot in my one league that is 6-0.
