Dtown, not only can you speak slowly, I'm betting you can't read without moving your lips.
Fine, you believe Ethier, Jones and Kemp should be the starting outfield. I'm listening. Put up the numbers. Like they say, put up or shut up. (Please note, I'm not telling Dtown to shut up.) But I am going to start treating Dtown like a Jints fan; I'm going to start beating DTown/Simers clone like a rented mule.
I suggest anybody with any brains go back and read the posts and determine whether this Dodger fan was comparing JP to Kemp . . . or whether DtownSimers is just drumming up more crap to fill tomorrow's column.
Can you hear me down in that hole, Simers!!?
Waiddaminnut! It just occurred to me, mebbe DTown is that bagboy from the market Simers' daughter is dating! Hey, GO FOR IT, Dtown!!

The answer is no. Juan Pierre was on the team all of last year. He played even to his career numbers. He didnt do anything that we shouldnt have expected. I understand and agree with you on that one. Thats the GM's fault. You dont want me to go there.
If Juan Pierre was the best option we had at lead off and was the in the top 3 of outfielders, then I wouldnt bring him up.
I dont single out Juan for the Dodgers not making the playoffs last year. I point out Juan because they start him over better players.
Sure the past 2 games he has been good. But over 162 games, on this team right now...having Juan in the line up everday at leadoff, or having in the starting line up period....is not going to win us anything.
And I admit I am ready to jump on Juan any time he does something. Like him getting picked off today. But its like when people boo Andruw Jones every at bat. No matter what Jones does for the next month, he will always get boo'd. He could hit a home run in his first at bat on the next home stand, and then strike out in his 2nd, and they will boo. Its just that simple. They developed their own track record.
And for the record, I have said I am giving Jones until the end of the month before I turn on him. And it very well maybe that I think Juan Pierre should start in Left, Kemp in center, and Ethier in right. But not right now. And I base it all on my opinion after watching Juan Pierre over 162 games last year.

Here is my PUT UP of your post where you compare Kemp and Pierre:
JP is hitting .350 in his last 13 games. He strikes out once every 25-30 trips to the plate. Kemp, for instance, fans every 3-4 at-bats.
By listing two different players, and providing their stats in the exact same category...that is called a comparison. See the above? You wrote that.
Lets break it down more:
Juan Pierre can carry 5 apples and only drops one.
Matt Kemp can carry 18 apples and only drops five.
See how there are 2 different people, doing the same thing, and there are numbers associated with it? Even though I didnt say compare, compared to, comparison.....it is actually a comparison.
You made a comparison. I said that there was no way those two should ever be compared since Matt Kemp is better in every category compared to Juan Pierre.
So now, you can SHUT UP

DTOWN.....thanks for the honest response, and i agree with a lot of what you said. now, here is something that will surprise all Dodger fans right now. i felt the EXACT same way about Furcal when he was a Brave. i saw ALL of their games , and this guy made me soooo freakin mad, i couldnt bear to watch him any longer, and i was GLAD they traded him!. and i am sure you guys are now HAPPY that you have him. yes, he had good numbers, BUT, just like you are saying now, he was a terrible leadoff man. always behind in the count, hardly could get the ball outta the infield, and then he would seem to always get the meaningless hit, to keep his avg around .290. then i started LOOKING for the little mistakes, which in my mind BECAME huge mistakes. so i do know where you are coming from. what in the heck has gotten into Furcal NOW is beyond me.!!!.....UNLESS, it is simply better coaching. which is my point about Juan. maybe he will improve over the next few days, weeks, whatever.
as far as Gerald Laird goes, he is just a tool, and i dont mean 5 tool player. he had a better than thou attitude in spring, and then didnt start off well at the beginning of the season, so we got down on him, and well, right now, truth be told, we probably would rather see Salty or even the rookie catching. so i hear where you are coming from. oh well, thats my rant.....
jus sayin'.....
iho....

If the Dodgers traded Ethier (Which I dont want them to ever do), I wouldnt piss and moan about Pierre as much. Because Pierre is a better option that Delwyn Young, Jason Repko, or anyone else on that team right now.
but its like having a roat and Frozen chicken fingers in the freezer and your wife pulls out the chicken fingers. Hey, the wife may need a rest every now and then, so its okay to give her break and just eat the chicken fingers.
But then the next day you have speghetti. (that roast is coming tomorrow!)
But then you come home and she says order a pizza. (no problem! Making it a special dinner tomorrow)
The next night you get home and its some noodle, veggie thing she read in a magazine. (Okay....chick meal tonight, Meat and Potatoes tomorrow)
But then the next night you get chicken. (then you start complaining why the heck she hasnt made roast)
the next night you get home and she makes the roast. Finally. And she even invited her parents over because they like roast too. However...because it sat so dam long, its a little dry, not the same. Almost....shall we say...Rusty?
Same with Juan and Ethier. Juan is okay, but he isnt Ethier. Now if I was a vegetarian or never introduced to meat, I would never clamor for Ethier...I mean roast.

In other words, Dodgertown, you're incapable of providing any statistics. So, you're just a chump. You're not a Dodgers fan (interesting you didn't deny that accusation), you're just a chronic BELLYACHER, or a closet Jints fan. I'll bet you haven't had a baseball role model since Will the Thrill left SF.
Can you hear me down there, CHUMP!! Keep bagging them groceries for T.J. Simers!!
Say something bad about Bennett again; dig a little deeper!
I'm just guessing Joe Torre knows more about baseball and the team than you do; so I'm just guessing JP will continue to start.
BTW, if you're the victim of severe mental and/or physical difficulties, please disregard all these slams. I like to keep all this on a cheerful level, even with the smack talk.

DTownSimers. Thanks SOMUCH for that cogent roast beef analogy. Please bag the roast in a separate plastic wrapper.
In fact, please bag ALL your silly opinions in a separate plastic wrapper. But don't put it over your head. (Please note, everybody, I did NOT advise DTownSimers to pull a plastic bag over his head -- although, except for the improvement, I don't think anybody could tell the difference.)
