First, I think the Twins management is looking pretty smart with the Santana trade! What would you rather have: a slick fielding center fielder in Carlos Gomez that is the third best batter with a .275 average, has stolen 16 bases, and has had several game winning hits, or a pitcher who has a 4-2 record with less than spectacular stats? To top it off we have not even seen the benifits from the other young players yet! I loved Santana in a Twins uniform, but I am liking Gomez more every day!

Next, Why in the world is Gardenhire playing Adam Everett over Matt Tolbert?? Tolbert is a much better hitter (.274 vs .196) his on base percentage is better (> 312 vs .224) and the one reason that some may say why everett is out there the fielding percentage is almost the same (.965 vs .969) I am going nuts wondering why we have this guy out there!!??//

I think they are going to give Everett and Lamb every chance to prove themselves and if it doesnt work out they will cut one or both.  Lamb has been picking it up the last week Everett has been playing better D as of late and we knew he was gunna struggle with the bat.  If Everett continues with a batting average below .200 i thikn they have to move Tolbert, Punto or even Casilla into the starting SS position.

As For the Santana trade, love love love watching Gomez play he is electric everytime hes up or on base i find my eyes glued to the TV to see what he is going to do next.  Mulvey is pitching well in AAA and might be the next on the list for a call up, would like to see Humber up as well.

the more i watch him, gomez is becoming one of my favorite players.  i'm also a big tolbert fan, and i agree that he should be starting at SS for us (although he has played well at 3B when punto was at SS too).

I think you guys are very correct in that if Everett and Lamb can't produce at the plate then it is time for the Twins to start thinking about Tolbert as an everyday player.  He's a little shaky on the defense side of things but that will come with time and experience on the turf as it has for Everett lately.

I think the Minneapolis papers were right in that we'll see some things shake up a little bit before the all-star break if the Twins go on a slide.  But realistically, things have looked pretty decent so far and let's just hope the rest of the AL Central keeps struggling and we can stay competitive enough to at least have a shot at sneaking into the playoff race this year! :-)

I think Gardenhire is doing a good still sticking with Adam Everett because Everett is the better and more experinced batter adam is known for having droughts but his defense is a plus.

I went to one of the Twins games against the Tigers and missed Gomez live...:(  I did however see Everett play.  I don't see him as a great defensive threat myself.  His arm strength is not what it used to be.  He;s a great guy personally, but his play is crap.  Unfortunatly, being a nice guy, doesn't score runs.  Luke Hughes and Clark and tolbert will be our right side for years to come.  Let them gel now before the stadium is built!
