Yeah, yeah, yeah, OJ and USC are guilty as hell.......anyone surprised there?  Hell, this kid was most likely taking coin and bling from the time he was a 5th-grader playing varsity high school ball.  But who cares?

What I am wondering is, in light of Brand's assertion that he WILL sanction any high-profile school caught in violation of NCAA rules, will he drop the hammer on his former employer, big bad IU?  Something tells me they won't get what they should.....

He may see it as unnecessary.  IU is already reduced to 3 scholarship players, limited in recruiting on two fronts (coaching visits and phones), and short an available scholarship.  Granted, the first item had more to do with player defection than anything, but bottom line is they are basically starting from scratch.  What will sanctions prove?

What I mean is, what are they going to do... ban them from the postseason for a couple years?  It'll be that long before they can make it again anyway.  Take another scholarship away?  They're starting over and will probably spread them out regardless, so they aren't going to use them all immediately anyway.

I suspect Brand will probably hit IU with some minor additional item to make it look like he did something (a one-year postseason ban, or a fine maybe).  But I'm betting it's USC that he tries to make an example of.  Whether they deserve it or not (I don't know the facts well enough to say), I'm betting he looks at the image from the Bush-Mayo double whammy and decides he can't let the second one skate.

As much as I can't stand them, phone calls do not equal cold hard cash.  You can't even put the two situations in the same sentence.  What's happening at USC might end up being a criminal offense.  Kelvin already screwed IU to the point of no return.  There reallly is nothing there to drop a hammer on.
