Here's something else I've noticed. Seems like the Rox play 7-8 innings where they're fine, but it's always 1 or 2 innings somewhere in the game that do them in. Like tonight, or the 4th (or was it the 5th) against the Padres a few nights ago. Seems like they do a good job keeping teams from chipping away, but teams always are able to get one or two good inning where they really pile it on.

Not to mention the fact that the Rockies don't have anything that resembles an offense. These things add up. I know it's a long season, but the Rox are going to bury themselves if they don't get some of these issues worked out and put together a string of wins.

Very good point----1 or two innings per game is killing the Rox.

I have a few other points that have me scratching my head.

1)  In rare cases where the Rockies actually score, it's about a 99% chance that the opponent will put up at least one run the next half inning.  What the hell is going on this season?  They never seem to have any momentum.

2)  Why does it seem like the Rox are afraid to be the first team to score?  They do put up runs from time to time, but they seem to ALWAYS be playing from behind.  Not a very good way to put together a winning streak.

3)  I'm sure that both Clint Hurdle and Bob Apodaca stress it, but do the pitchers actually understand that walks kill you?  Aaron Cook gets it...you can give up solo homers and still win games, but the two walks that start an opponents rally are what allows them to put up big innings.

It seems like it is something different each game. No offense one game, bad starting pitching the next, then when we actually have a chance to win the bullpen blows it. Last year was maybe the best year ever for the Rox as far as walks by pitchers, having a great defense helps the pitchers confidence, but Gumby you are right this year they are nibbling and not going after guys like last year.

Two things the Rox need to do if possible. Get Francis going. I dont know whats wrong this year but they need to fix it. Right now they need to let Spilly play for Hawpe. I love Hawpe but we need a reliable stick in there.
