moRon Washington has brought in CJ with 4 run leads 3 times in the last week and CJ has not pitched very well in them.  A lot of times when closers pitch in non-save situations they seem to perform poorly.  I guess this is due to lack of focus and it nearly cost the Rangers last night.

I understand CJ needs to get his innings but I think it is plain stupid that Wash used CJ 3 times this week with 4 run leads.  It seems as if he has no clue on how to use his bullpen.

Also, I have lost all faith in Benoit as an 8th inning setup man.  Time to make an example of him and move him to the 6-7th inning guy.  Francisco, Guardado, and German have looked like they can handle the 8th.  Maybe if Benoit is moved down he can work out the kinks and pitch like he did last year.

Go Rangers!!!

Couldn't have said it better myself.  I can remember the same thing happening to Kern,
Wetteland and Russell.  Additionally, Gossage and Fingers also would ocassionally do the same.

I guess you can compare it to a team playing up or down to the level of their competition; a terrible mindset.  If you can't give your best shot each day then why show up?

Isnt it too early in the season to be putting CJ in just to get work? If you do it too much you risk burning him out by the all star break. If its me I wouldnt give my closer more than 10 non-save opportunities a season.

Also, CJ is out for tonights game because of last nights fiasco. Texas has a 1 run lead in the 8th. Boy it sure would be great to have your closer finish out a close game for once...novel concept I know.

Good thing Guardado is available. Maybe thats Washington's plan, overwork CJ so Eddie can be the closer...
