A winning attitude in the clubhouse. Usually it's just guys go through the motions uninspired, but now guys in the clubhouse feel good about the way they are playing and have a great attitude. I think geting Doug Mientkiewicz had alot to do with it. He's been a veteran leader in the clubhouse aswell as being pretty reliable on the field. I think he's had a great influence on McLouth, he seems alot more confident.

I couldn't agree more.  I remember from the first game when Bay and McLouth let that fly ball drop in between them in the first game against the Braves, they let up a 2 run lead i believe.  They came back to the dugout to find the coach clapping and saying, positive things like, "Let's go bat".  They said in past years, it was nothing but silence on the bench.  I question some of his moves on the field but, his attitude off is just as good.  It's rubbing off on the players.

If lloyd mcclendon was a better manager I think he'd still be here, he brought the energy the players needed

I think the winning attitude is rubbing off on the fans.  Well this one at least.  Usually i'm looking for a way for the Pirates to lose the game, and last night when Grabow gave up that homer to Pujols I would of said here we go again.  Not anymore though, this team seems to have a fight in them and an attitude that they can comeback from a deficit.  I can't believe it, its the middle of May and i'm excited about the Pirates! Somebody pinch me!

The winning attitude is great. Especially as you said in a player like mclouth. When he goes this team goes. The top of the lineup is so crucial. When the Pirates had a record above .500 after the all-star break a few years ago it was because Chris Duffy was tearing up at the plate and in the field. The good times always have a great leadoff hitter and the pirates definitely have that in mclouth.
