Nelson Figueroa should consider pitching underhanded to the Nationals, if there is a next time for him.
Here it is, girls, go ahead and hit it.
"They were cheerleading in the dugout like a bunch of softball girls," the beleaguered Mets right-hander said after getting stomped in a 10-4 loss to the Nationals last night. "If that's what a last-place team needs to do to fire themselves up, so be it. They need to show a little more class and professionalism."

"It was one of those nights nothing seemed to go right on both sides of the ball for us," Figueroa said. "At times it seemed like every pitch wasn't working. I literally tried to throw balls down the middle, just to let them hit it, and when they did, they fouled off six or seven pitches in a row."

Next time, I'll pitch underhanded.

just a thought...

Those sound like fighting words from Figueroa.  He should wait until he builds some credibility before he starts opening his mouth like that... He's strictly a rotation filler anyway.. he'll be gone when Pedro and El Duque get back..

Oh no, they were cheering too loud ... heaven forbid.

And then Maine goes and plunks Felipe Lopez with the first pitch of the game Tuesday, just to underline the notion that the Mets don't like it when opponents clap for themselves.

To Nelson: Wah. Enjoy Triple-A.

Who cares if the Nats were chanting and cheering? It's good for team morale and it clearly got to Figueroa.  It sounds like he was just trying to take the attention away from his dismal performance.
