I hate to say it, but I think the wheels might be coming off Nelson Figueroa’s pumpkin carriage.

A move to the long relief role might be more appropriate for Nelson at this point in the season. Sosa has proven to be useless, time and time again, and the Mets don’t seem to be in any hurry to get Matt Wise back, so why not roll the dice and put Figueroa in the long relief role, releasing Sosa to the wild.

Nelson’s story has been a great one. A former major league journeyman working his way back to the bigs after stopping in every country that manufactures hazardous toys. And after his first few starts, we all started to believe that a little time in Taiwan might have unearthed a gem. But since those games, no one has wanted to admit that Nelson hasn’t been at all effective, and at times, has been pretty damn bad on the mound.

I know I didn’t.

But right now the Mets rotation is Johan, Maine, and anyone who feels like showing up. Pelfrey is only as good as his last inning, and Oliver Perez well I'm at a lose with him. Figueroa has become a liability in a rotation that doesn’t need any more charity workers. The last thing the Mets should do is continue trying to create a Cinderella story out of an increasingly ugly stepsister. Let’s use Nelson how God intended — a few innings at a time — one turn through a lineup.

He never had any wheels - that's why he's never done anything in the bigs before.  You got way more than you should have, now go find another bum to take his place so that he can hold down the fort until the 2 other old and used up pitchers get back

I agree, Figueroa's clock struck 12 a few weeks ago.  He was successful his first couple outings because nobody had recent film on the guy.. Now that teams can watch film on his recent games they pick up his tendencies and he's not adjusting.  Second, i'm not too happy he called out the Nationals last night for celebrating.  Who the heck are you Nelson Figueroa??

Exactly how in your infinitely small universe do you tie David Wells to Nelson Figueroa.  Oh wait I get it.  That's a Yankee slap isn't?  Ha, Ha, very amusing.  No wonder why you have a 2 year old as your avatar.

Yeah agreed, keep your mouth shut...Unless you are pitching lights out, which last time I checked Nelson you werent....Just shut up and pitch...well if you have another chance that is...

That is all the Mets need somone to run their mouth and next you know it the Nats sweep the Mets....

Mets do need to wake up and start playing some baseball....Its May boys, Marlins are up 3 games and Mets sit in 3rd.....No more its early excuses...enough is enough....

Need help Sean?

Because your avatar insult was absolutely moronic. Why is it a "no wonder" situation? The fact that I made fun of you explains my avatar?

Idiot.

Yankee slap? You...sir...are a slap in the face to all Yankee fans.

And, if you can't figure out why I mentioned David Wells then try re-reading my post and understanding my sarcasm. If you need help let me know, I will be glad to help...and if you want to take a lesson on how to insult people then you can get ahold of me as well, I'll train ya...I'm here for YOU buddy.

Yeah ok fay.  Get back to me when you aren't so sensitive.  Do you start bar fights when someone says something you don't like about your pitiful Mets or are you the throw beer on the person wearing the Phillies jersey at Shea kind of puke.
