Every time that WASTE of the M's future, Bedard, blows an appearance, the masterful Mariners PR people create headlines that blame any and everyone BUT Bedard. This guy chokes and still comes out smelling like a rose, but Carlos Silva or Miguel Batista WIN and there's minimal promotion.
Then.... the fact that Brandon Morrow and his 1.1 innings gets the loss, after the atrocious job his predecessors did, was déjà vu from last year! Good God, enough is enough!!!!!
I can't even get rid of Bedard in my fantasy league because of his supposed high value and since he's a two-starter this week, I threw caution to the wind and started him for the first time in a long time. Today's appearance put me in the RED 5.5 points!
Oh… wait… I feel a “non-serious-injury” for Bedard coming on…. That’s been the routine all year.
I can't defend this particular start of Bedard's, but you act like he hasn't pitched well this season?
Let's look at his last 3 starts this season.
Last night he got hammered in the 3nd and was just not that good.
May 7 vs Tex. 7 innings 2 ER and got hung with a loss. How about scoring some damn runs!!
May 2 vs NY 7 inning 1 ER, 2 UER. Catch the ball!!! Another quality start for Bedard. Another loss because we are playing like crap.
Do you know what a Quality Start is? 6 inning or more, with 3 earned runs or less allowed.
Bedard has had 6 starts this season. 4 have been quality starts in which his record is 2-2. 1 was a 5 inning no decision in the season opener, and then last nights bad outting.
Are you sure you are not the one doing the Spinning?
Oh, and quit baseing a players value on his fantasy numbers.
Bedard has pitched well enough to win, in 5 of his 6 outtings this season.
"King Felix" Has been garbage, his last 3 times out.
Batista has pitched well, twice all season.
Wash has had about 3 good trips to the mound.
Even Silva, who was great through april, has been clobbered his last two times out.
I just don't see how you want to put blame on Bedard. If nobody is willing to give you anything for him in fantasy baseball, there are probably reason. 1 he plays on a team that can't win right now. 2 you're a chick and they are trying to get over on you. And judging by your post I would say #2 is pretty much right on.
Anyone that expects a pitcher to have his top game every time out is not in reality! Bedard is a top pitcher and over time will be the best or easily on par with Felix in the rotation. The trade for Bedard was a very good trade....Adam Jones is okay, Sherrill is pitching way over his head, and the other guys are mid level prospects. The bottom line is at the end of the year you can evaluate the trade but it is obviously a good trade!
So, does he pay you under the table or are you actually on his payroll?
Seriously, you act like I'm attacking you. I use the fantasy comparison as a frame of reference. And the reason I can't DROP Bedard (not trade) is due to league designation of certain players, it has nothing to do with nobody else wanting him.
Thank you for the walk down Bedard's season so far; you said nothing I didn't already know, including what a Quality Start is.
By the way, as much as you complained about him getting a no decision in a game that saw him give up 6 runs in 2 innings. How do you think he felt in the 2 games before, where he got a loss in each game while giving up a total of 3 ERs in 14 innings. He is the best pitcher on our staff. If we could play baseball behind him and Felix they would probably both be 20 game winners.
Did you not realise something when the league said he was undropable? Basically you have to be stupid to drop them. I'd take him off you if I were in your league.
Honestly if you want to get rid of him you'll have no bother. Just send a message saying you want to get rid of Bedard and he'll be off in less than a day.
