I understand that guys need a rest every once in a while, but resting Kaz and Bourn on the same night? It is Oswalt vs. the Giants, so maybe Coop thinks we can win this with one or two... But I still don't like it. Let's just hope we continue to get great production from the middle of the order.

Time for Wigginton to prove his worth and get us a win. No more excuses. I'm calling a three-run shot for him tonight.

i was going to post about lineup tweaks and bam, here's your thread...so here goes.

let's move matsui up to leadoff and put pence in at #2.  have the catcher spot bat 7th and give ausmus as many starts as towles (i.e., split 50/50 instead of 33/67).  move bourn down to 8th and voila!  more at bats for your better obp guys, more rbi opportunities for blt.

Astros just took the lead as i am posting this...roy o will be pitching with a lead for the first time tonight.  go stros!

Ya know... I know everyone thinks Pence has too much power for the leadoff spot. But why doesn't anyone say that about Jimmy Rollins? In fact, they're very similar players in my opinion. I think we might even be better suited with Pence leading off and Kaz in the #2. Kaz is just a gritty, get-on-base at all costs prototypical two-hitter I think.

But oh my, how great is Lance Berkman? Down two, a man on first. Homer? Why not. Thank you, sir. And thank you Ausmus for finally getting some hits when it matters.

Wow what a great game tonight.  I'm glad Roy O got the win.

I didn't tune in until just before the Giants started scoring with those doubles in the bottom of the 3rd, but when I saw Cruz batting, I was thinking... "that's a bit early to be pinch-hitting..."

Once I saw the lineup I kinda had a "ah... it's an "experiment" night, is it?"

Also, I think Coop's being overly sensitive to the fact that this is a 10-game road trip in the middle of a 20-games-straight, every single day stretch.... But yeah, I didn't like what I saw. Loretta wasn't so hot, he had the most LOB after Oswalt, in the final analysis. Cruz ended up finally having a good offensive outing beyond just drawing walks in PH situations.... BUT...

I happened to see him just miss a catch on one of those doubles in the 3rd... that Bourn (had he been playing around the same spot in CF, of course), would have easily made. So defensively, I thought him being out there instead of Bourn kinda blew... especially since Bourn has already gotten plenty of days off when we face lefty pitching.

So... I kinda wish Bourn was in there, but yeah, if they wanna give Kazuo a day off, so be it.

Looks like you and I are on the same wavelength (I had just posted that you should call out Wigginton next in that thread where we were talking about your magical call-outs to other players) on Ty.

Wiggington has been extremely disappointing up to this point ... so has Bourn and Towles.  I understand why they're still in the lineup, they have to work their problems out in real time games, not in batting cages and in fielding practice.

Move Pence into the 2 hole and let Kaz hit leadoff.  Or vice versa.  Both get on base frequently enough and this would let Bourn and Towles work their problems out without damaging anything towards the top of the order.

like your thoughts.. maybe bourn in the 8th or even 9th spot (move the pitching up to 8th- ala larussa and Ned Yost)

here is the lineup i like the most...

Bourn...cmon gotta hit over 200 soon

Kaz...sure ill take the extra base

Tejada... big stick

Berkman.. cant even do his streak justice

Carlos...big ole boy

Hunter... coming on strong

Wiggy...im overdue.. been here 2 yrs.. (sort of) still havent done anything

Towles.. speaking of slow start...

This is a fairly strong lineup.. sure BLT will slow down..but Bourn, Wiggy, Towles and even Hunter are still underperforming relative to their abilities..i think we have just begun to see the potential of this offense...

GO STROS
