I'm glad to see Joe Madden doing so well in Tampa.  He was a great coach for the Angels and really deserved a manager's job somewhere.  But when he went to Tampa, my first thought was, "Oh no Joe!  That team is a loser, gets no fan support, an owner who won't invest $ in quality players and they'll fire you after two seasons".

So, they are 1.5 games out of first and have the best winning % in team history to this point in the season.  I just wish he didn't have to boost his % at the expense of the Angels.  Where's the loyalty?

Speaking of former Angel coaches, I've got a bad feeling about Bud Black in San Diego :(

Great post, Front Row!

Joe Madden is the man.  I remember at the end of last year, when there were rumors swirling around about him possibly getting fired, and I knew he deserved better.  He's got a good, young team there in Tampa. He caught the Angels at their weak point in an injury-riddled series, and took advantage.

All the best luck for Joe.

Bud Black just might be doomed in San Diego. His team is underachieving big-time.

Go Angels!

I've always liked Maddon and I too am happy for his early season success, although I wish it didn't have to be at our expense.

I met him while working at a hotel in Anaheim in the late 90's and he hooked me up with tix in the players family section. He even came out of the dugout before the game and gave me a wave to make sure I got the tix. Great guy. Great baseball mind.
