The Reds batted out of order in the 9th inning after a double switch. This is incredible. I thought these things only happened in little league. What a complete and utter embarrassment. How much more do we have to endure before changes are made. This is just one more reminder why Krivsky was fired.

Fundamental Baseball. The Reds don't have it. Bob Castellini has to be sitting up in the owners box pounding his head on the table thinking "What have I done!" He hired Crusty Faker as a name in an attempt to lure fans on recognition alone. I would have preferred McKannin over Crusty any day.

I put that on Patterson.  Ok, you're not in the game, you have an opportunity to hit and then come into the game.  So....what...you're not going to be ready to come in...you're not going to say...hey, wait a minute, wasn't I supposed to come in and hit?  You're going to just go sit down and not try to have a handle on what is going on?

The ump said that in his 25+ years career, he has never had a batting out of order call to make.  On the other hand, Dusty said the only other time that he has ever experienced something like that was when he did it HIMSELF in a game.  LMAO  What does that tell ya folks?

GO Reds!

Dusty said that has never happened to him as a manager before BUT I found this...

4/16/2004 - In the top of the seventh inning, Cubs manager Dusty Baker intended to place two new players in the lineup with a double switch but failed to tell Umpire C.B. Bucknor. When the Cubs batted in the bottom of the inning, shortstop Ramon Martinez came to the plate in the ninth spot in the order and doubled. The Reds protested that the Cubs were batting out of order. Pitcher Kent Mercker, the proper batter, was called out. Baker argued with the umpires but was told that the call stood. Yelling & screaming, he tossed his lineup card on the ground and was ejected by Bucknor. Baker threw his hat, walked away and returned; he tossed his hat again, stomped to the dugout and kicked some items in the on deck circle before finally leaving the field. The Cubs won in the bottom of the ninth, 11-10, when Sammy Sosa and Moises Alou hit back-to-back homers to end the game. When Baker arrived home that day, his son called him "Mad Dog."

Not exactly the same, but close enough.  This stuff should NEVER happen and to see that he's been involved in a ridiculous error 3 times is beyond alarming.

GO REDS!

Nati - That is absolutely priceless! Maybe MLB should start implementing the Wunderlick test for Major League umpires like they do for NFL rookies. Dusty can not be the sharpest tool in the shed to have been involved in this three times. I have never seen it happen, nor have I ever heard of it happening. I played baseball from the age of 6 up till I was 36 years old, and never seen it happen. There is even a lineup card hanging in every dugout in every game I have been in and on every major league dugout wall. How can this happen? How can the simple execution of a batting order be screwed up? I wonder if all our baserunning blunders are due to missed signs? Or doe we have signs? Do think someone should have signaled from the dugout the other day that Oliver Perez had a 20 foot lead at first base, and nobody caught it? Stupid mistakes! These should never happen at the Major League level. I think Bob Castellini should implement the "Cookie Jar" in the locker room. $1000 for every stupid mistake made. Look at the bright side. Dusty will have paid his own salary by the end of the year!

HA! I wonder what Dusty's Wonderlick score would be...let's see...If I remember correctly a score of 14 and below indicates the brain power of a cheese doodle...Vick and Young both scored in the single digits...so my guess would be about a 9.

I have been involved in baseball for over 30 years...although not in the MLB.  Regardless, I have never seen anyone bat out of order...and I have witnessed my fair share of T-Ball and Little League games.  They don't have the line up cards posted either.  Batting out of order is a failure on all levels.  No excuse for it!

GO Reds!

I forgot to mention how funny it was that the '04 incident was against the Reds.  He's brought along some bad mojo to the Queen City!

GO REDS!
