T.J. Simers wrote in the L.A. Times today that when he asked Jones, "Don't you care that the fans in Dodger Stadium have turned on you?" his response was "No, thats their problem." Additionally, when Simers asked about playing for the fans he replied, "I don't care, you play for the team, you don't play for the fans. The fans never played the game. They don't know."
The guy is pathetic. He obviously does not want to be here (except for the money). It's a shame that he's whiffing his way to the bank at the expense of the Dodgers organization and FANS.

TJ Simers is the one who is pathetic, he is rude, classless, and writes based on his emotions not the stories. He begins that article calling him "tubbo", then goes on to bait him. Plus Andruw is correct, a lot of the people who go to the games, boo without the faintest of knowledge of the game.
eg. yesterday, when Andruw Jones Mothers Day video montage was playing the "fans" booed him. No class. When he has his only at bat and flies out to DEEP center, where Bourn makes an outstanding catch, they booed, why? Because they see an out, not that he made outstanding contact, and was robbed of a double and an rbi, or that Michael Bourn made a great play. When watching the game on TV, I can hear, "Astros suck" over and over, all the while the Astros were putting up 6 runs in that inning, and it continued "Astros suck". It's those fans that Andruw was talking about, those who show no class, or have no idea of whats going on. Not those of us who understand this game.

Ok so I should have read this thread before posting mine... But I am a Braves fan and I posted a link to that Simers article on the Braves board. A lot of people said the journalist was to harsh and Andruws coments were warented. I was curious about Simers rep in LA if he was known to be a bit of a jerk.

This man is clearly a jerk. Andruw doesnt deserve this. If anything it is the Dodgers fault for giving him this much money. You could tell he was on the decline and didnt deserve that much money. If any journalist wrote and talked like this to a Braves player I would be highly upset with him.

The article clearly states one man's opinion that Jones sucks. I happen to agree with that and have been saying that since preseason. I guess the fact that Jones is not helping his cause by not hitting the ball.
If Jones wants the boos to stop all he has to do is hit the ball. He is getting paid to do a job that he is not doing. People in the real world get fired for that.

Jones is struggling. He is not producing, and is definetly not living up to his 18 million a year but, when has booing a player on your own team at home ever helped the situation? It just makes things harder. Jones wants to produce. Yes he is heavier than before but the added stress of the media and the fans is not going to do anything to help. If the Dodgerfans want to boo somebody do it to Colletti. He is the one that signed Jones and is paying him the money. He paid big money on a hunch that Andruw was going to produce when all you had to do is look at the declining numbers in his production.
I live in New York and remember when the Yankee fans were booing A-rod at home. I always said that you don't see that in L.A. when I guy is struggling. Guess I can't say that anymore.
Jones is working on hitting the ball the other way and making contact. He gets one ab in a game, flies to deep right center and Bourne makes a great play to catch it and Andruw gets the boos! He is trying fans.

As a Braves fan, there were not too many of us upset to see him go. He showed up fat every year, but didn't catch too much heat for it. He was horrible in the clutch. His numbers looked good but when you look at his opportunities, not too impressive. And his defense continued to slip. He was once the best center fielder in baseball and not he's an "old 30". I'd be a little suspicious if that's his real age.

I get frustrated with Jones all the time. Everytime I look at the box score and see 2 SO's I wonder what the heck he's still doing in the lineup. But, he's a Dodger and any fan of the Dodgers, no matter how much they might not like the guy in the lineup, have no right to boo him. I never really understood booing too much anyway....especially at your own players. I have to be honest and say that I've yet to be able to actually see a Dodger game (I guess that's what I get for living in Texas), but I honestly don't think that he's out there not even trying. If anyone has seen any different than feel free to contradict me, but it's certainly been a rare sight that I've ever seen a professional sports player dog it on purpose.
I still hold out the hope that he'll find his spot and start hitting....not just for the purpose of justifying that hefty contract he received, but to help the Dodgers win....and isn't that what everybody wants?

Nothing like going out and getting a big free agent to bat second in the order. He'll be lucky to bat over .230 this year and hit over 20 HRs. Everybody watch and see, he will still be in this slump at the end of May. I just hope he has at least 10 RBI's by the end of the month!!
