Even though alot of M's fans would love to see Griffey come back this year I don't think it's a good idea to go all out and make a trade for him.  We would have to honor his option for next year at 16.5mil and end up losing someone for him too.  If we just wait untill the offseason he will be a free agent and we can sign him for a much more reasonable (and lower) price and not lose anyone in the process.  The only reason management wants him back is to put people in the seats because he wouldn't be that much of a help.  Sure there's a chance he might get a boost from coming back but what are the odd's and are they worth it....I don't think so.

I'd rather watch the M's lose with Griffey than watch them lose without him since they seem to find a way to dig a hole almost every game anyway.  Call it a funk if you like but the season's 1/4 over and the rest of the division is moving right along.

I agree you don't give up much especially since they're looking to boot him for a talent spot anyway but for cash or cash/a player that's not a big part of the future puzzle of the team?

The Mariners of the 90's were one of the best things that ever happened to the city of Seattle and the state of Washington. I mean those were the glory day with Griffey, A-Rod, Randy Johnson, Jay Buhner, Edgar Martinez, etc. If they could bring back Griffey back to end his career here then it would rejuvenate the the city and the state. The Mariners need to make this move.

it wont cost Clement for Griffey, he did hold the team hostage for a trade to Cincinatti but at the time could you blame him, the organization didnt care about winning the WS, they would never pull off a trade at the deadline when they needed, they just traded their best pitcher and at the time anyway didnt get squat for him..Garcia, Guillen and Halama did turn out to be better than thought at the time, the 95 team was just special they werent put together to win the WS and had an unbelievable season that will never be matched again with the talent they had...and fans will always love Griffey for saving baseball and keeping fans in Seattle even caring about the sport in the 90's when they were horrible yet fans paid to see him strictly cause it was god awful to go watch the M's play in the early 90's, he definetly isnt going to help put the team over but its a great PR move and thats what they need bad if they want to salvage respectable numbers in attendance with a team that is going to be in a dog fight to not be the worst team in baseball

Please, Please, Please. I remember the day like it was yesterday. The day we sent Ken Griffey Jr. to the Reds for a young Mike Cameron, Brett Tomko, and Antonio Perez. Maybe of few good years out of Cammy, but I feel that both ways this trade would've been better off never happening. I know bringing Griffey back now wouldn't change too much in the stat collumn as he's aged, and can't do a lot of what he was able to do. The impact in the community, and all around morale of the team would be a complete turn around. He did build Safeco. When you think of Seattle Mariners baseball, you think of Ken Griffey Jr. I wore the #24 in every sport I played because of him. I was 8 yrs. old his rookie season, and remember even the bad years being good with him around. Now living in Portland, I know I'd personally make trip after trip up to the safe to watch him finish his career in Seattle. He'd also lift the spirits of the youngsters and give us a reliable leader. I mean after all Raul Ibanez, and Richie Sexson are not it. As good as Ichiro is, we can't rely on him to lead the youngsters. On a finishing note, would Griffey really be any worse statistically than Ibanez and Sexton anyways?
