Derrick Jasper Transfer Looks Like a Done Deal

Kentucky Coach Billy Gillispie announced during a Saturday press conference that he expects sophomore guard Derrick Jasper to transfer, and that the move will likely be finalized next week.

Speculation has run wild over the past several weeks that Jasper was looking to transfer to a school closer to his California home.  The school brought up as Jasper's most likely destination?  UNLV.

UNLV currently has two 2008 scholarships available, the 2nd opening up just this week when little used freshman forward Troy Cage announced his intentions to transfer from UNLV.  It's been widely assumed among Rebels fans that at least one of the scholarships...should be choose to transfer from UK, and should he be granted his release...would be offered to Jasper.

Now,  soon to be hitched river rock, it has become increasingly difficult for those not following Kentucky/UNLV basketball, wether your posts are in earnest or you are reporting real news.

Ugh.  I'm back after a day consisting of a 7-9 year old baseball game and a 1st grade pony ride birthday party.  I need gin...STAT!

Leggy geze, this news sho nuff be a legit as it gets.  This whole saga has been ongoing for weeks now.  I'm just glad we're nearing a conclusion, regardless of what Derrick ultimately chooses to do.  Ahhhhhhhh who am I kidding...I REALLY hope Jasper comes to UNLV.  Despite what my buddy J-Dub's says, you WIN with guys like Derrick Jasper. 

His offensive game...in regards to scoring...will elvolve I'm sure.  Will he ever be a 20 ppg scorer?  No way.  I do, however, think he'll ultimately be one of those stat stuffer type ballplayers.  10+ ppg, 6+ rpg, 5+ apg...that kind of deal.

He's a big point guard who rebounds like crazy, and makes good decisions.  He's a winner.  I just hope his next good decision is heading out west to play for Lon Kruger.  Whatever he chooses to do though, I wish him the best.
