Looks like Rick Carlisle is set to sign a contract with Dallas to coach the Mav's.

4 year 17 million is a steal, for IMO the best available coach the Bulls SHOULD have signed.

Rick Carlisle knows the Eastern conference style of play better than any of the other candidates, and has the track record that speaks for itself.

He was interviewed long enough for a cup of coffee, which was long enough for Pax to produce a contract and a pen to sign it with. But NO!...when Carlisle wanted a time table from Pax as to when he would present an offer, Pax said nevermind......NEVERMIND????

Now he will be left to choose from the rest of the candidates that will no doubt have a higher asking price, which doesn't fit into the Bulls plan.

Thibodeaux, who some of you (like Jazzman61) think is a good option, who very well may be. (I hope your right Jazzman61)

He seems to be one of the only other names being considered, and one that if hired better pan out for the Bulls sake.

He would probably ask for 3-4 mill per year, which isn't much less than what the best option, (Carlisle) signed for. If I were  Thibodeaux, i would ask for 4 million per year, and probably get it since the Bulls will be down to their last straws. I wouldn't be surprised if he turn's it down and goes somewhere else.

I guess Pax would then, feel pretty good about his master plan of interviewing everyone he can.

BTW, Johnson (who would be just an ok choice for me) hasn't been interviewed, nor has Paul Silas (who would be a better option than Johnson). What are you doing Paxon!!!!

4/17, what a steal for Carlisle.

Seems there is new news on the Skiles contract buyout.

According to 2 people familiar with Skiles settlement after his Christmas Eve firing, Skiles is owed $1 mill of his guaranteed $3.5 mill next season. In exchange for waiving his offset, Skiles agreed to refund $1 mill of the 4.5 mill owed next season.

Skiles, who receives his Bulls money despite signing a 4 yr 18 mill deal with the Bucks, then spread the remaining 3.5 mill over seasonal payments of 1 mill, 1 mill, 750k and 750k.

Thus, the Bulls theoretically could sign D'Antoni to the 4.25 mill annual average remaining on his Suns contract and, combined with the 1 mill owed Skiles next season, have an outlay of 5.25 mill for a coach.

Things are looking better financially, for the Bulls to get who they want instead of who they can afford.

ginney,

I do not know what Paxson is doing. I can only hope he knows things we do not. Maybe Thibodeaux is alright, but I strongly believe the Bulls need a veteran NBA coach and not an asst. coach. It just seems like a big risk to take. Avery Johnson is still there for the taking. Maybe my prediction may still pan out.
