I don't quite know how to put this without getting kicked off the site. Is anyone with me here?
What are our options. That's a third of his save chances blown. Give us three of those five and we've got a sizable lead in this division.

I agree... I to started a thread...plus I posted on the third thread about the same topic that has been started in the last ten 10 minutes. Read what I post there about what I think we should do.

My guess is that if Izzy isn't demoted immediately, that the owner will get rid of TLR. Either way, Izzy has appeared in his last game as a Cardinal.
The only reason we won in 2006 is because Izzy wasn't our closer in the World Series. pipe

I just watched his interview, this is a stand up guy. He more or else demoted himself. Now its up to TLR and Duncan to get him out of there, because he is gone mentaly. No confidence at all.

OK, you guys win. I agree that Izzy needs a break from closing at this point.
How about trying Kyle McClellan in the role? He's got the stuff, and he seems mentally tough beyond his years.
If Izzy isn't hurt, I'd put him in a middle relief role for now.

Gentlemen-
I agree. I have had too much of Mr. Unreliable. He needs to go like as of.....well...last week, lol! I wish the Cards brass would screw their heads on their shoulders straight or take off the dang blinders. It's time to bring up Chris Perez and let him show Izzy how it's done. Hey, if the Pirates can release Matty Mo and the Padres release Jimmy Ballgame then we can release Izzy. I don't even think using Izzy in a setup role will change anything about him either.
Bottom line. For the good of the Cardinals, Izzy must go and right now. If we are in a youth movement then it's time to hand over the closers reigns to the young guy, Chris Perez.

Dude nice to hear from you on this thread. You are completely right. This is what I say. Call up Perez, put Izzy on the DL. Even if that means faking an injury. Use Perez in a setup role I Franklin to closer.
Many people are bashing Glaus. I personally think he is doing fine. But here is an option David Freese has 4HR's in AAA so that could be an option.
Everybody is bashing on C. Duncan, and rightfully so. He is doing a terrible job not only in the field but also batting. I would demote him and call up Mather, he is having a solid season in the minors. And I believe that he is even able to play a little first to back up Pujols
Since we are in a youth movement why not? Give me your thoughts.

Everyone in the Cardinal nation is getting sick of what Isringhausen has been doing on the mound lately, even Izzy himself.
"I'm just getting sick of embarrassing myself and letting my team down," Isringhausen said. "We should be five more wins in the win column in my mind, so we should be ahead in first place even more. But they can't keep sending me out there when I'm pitching the way I'm pitching.
"We're going to have to figure out some kind of remedy. I'm sure that remedy will give me some time off and get somebody in there that can do a better job right now. ... I'm just pitching like a second grader."
Izzy is just through mentally, he might still have some good pitches left in him but now that all of this has gotten into his head its over with for him. We have all seen what happens when a closer loses his confidence, remeber John Rocker?
I wonder how bad the Cardinals are kicking themselfs in the but for letting Troy Percival go at the end of last year.
I agree with you about putting Izzy on the DL, and giving him some time to find out where his stuff went. Chris Perez has been having a pretty good year down in Memphis with the Redbirds. Perez has more strike outs and a much lower ERA in about the same amount of innings as Izzy this year. Or even trying Kyle McClellan, as someone else suggested. No matter who Duncan and Larussa decide to put in the closer spot it will be an upgrade over Izzy.

I totally agree with Cards_68 and Zizzle4. Izzy should have sat a while ago. I respect TLR's loyalty to his vets but enough is enough. In his last 7 save chances only 2 times has his fastball broke 90 mph and he saved those. We have one potential closer in the bigs already and he is a St. Louis boy plus Motto and Perez in the minors. I would prefer to see Perez get the nod with his fastball and potential.
Glaus has not been the player that anyone thought he would be. I have always been a big fan of his but he is not getting it together yet. I don't know if David Freese is the solution, I hear his defense is a little under par, but if his offense makes up for it then???
As stated before Duncan needs to go!!!! Why can't Ludwick play every game? He is slugging in the 700's and has almost as many RBI's as anyone on the team. I believe he is tied with Albert for the homerun lead also.

Izzy has blown 5 saves this year! This guy sucks. They need to bring up Perez or Motto before we lose our whole season.
