It makes no difference whether Izzy 'finds' himself or not.  He is not, nor has he ever been, a championship caliber closer.  Give him a 2 or 3 run lead and he can almost always close you out, especially against a weak or average team.

But get into the playoffs against the league's best hitters and he can't do the job. pipe

Yeah, actually, pipe, it does make a difference whether Izzy finds himself or not.  This team is better off when Izzy is pitching well and  closing games.  Period.

Hate on Izzy all you want.  He's certainly used to it.  It's been that way since he's been here.  Through good times and bad (mostly good, if you care to look at the numbers), Cardinals fans have loved to get down on this guy.  For a group of fans that prides itself on being "the best in baseball", I don't get it.

Do you think Izzy enjoys blowing these games?  I guarantee you no one feels worse about it then he does.  And it sure doesn't help matters when, as reported in the Post-Dispatch earlier in the week, he is in his own bullpen and some two-bit chump in the stands who jokingly calls himself a Cardinals fan yells at him to "just do your (expletive) job."

Izzy will get straightened out, and he'll be back to closing games for this team soon enough.  And the team will be better for it.

Just saw on the ESPN "ticker" that Izzy is no longer handling the Cardinals closing duties.  I haven't seen the full story or anything, but at least this will give him some time to get his head straight.  Maybe he needs a burger from Fast Eddies or something.  Hopefully this "break" will do him and the Cardinals some good.

Go Cards

This is coming from the home of Todd Jones! Izzy is out (for now), but he WILL return! I was visiting my son last weekend in StL and we were at the game Jason pull a "Todd Jones" and blew the save to the Cubs!!! This Friday night, he did it again!!!!!!!!

Our boy, Todd, has not YET pulled "an Izzy!" He tried to Friday night. Went into the ninth with a four-run lead and came out with a save. Final score: 6-5.

Cardinal fans (my adopted national-league team), don't give up! Izzy WILL return!!!!!!!!

Man the NL Central has some awesome closers:

Gagme, Wood, Izzy

Izzy is 1-4 and 1 blown save, right?  Those are the 5 games he's referring too.  No closer can be perfect, but I agree Izzy needs a mental check right now.
