I noticed the poster who started this thread is an ND fan. Typical high and mighty Golden Domer. Well, I got news for you......your program has had problems just like everyone else. Let's just list a few.....
Feb '08 - SOUTH BEND, Ind. San Diego native / Notre Dame tight end Will Yeatman was charged Wednesday with misdemeanor counts of DUI / drunk driving and criminal recklessness after allegedly driving a car on a campus sidewalk with his headlights off in the early morning hours.
2007 - The South Bend Tribune is reporting Notre Dame defensive end Derrell Hand was arrested for suspicion of soliciting a prostitute Thursday.
2004 - A Notre Dame football player and former football player were arrested by South Bend Police early Sunday morning, and police say the players were involved in a fight downtown.
Captain John Williams, public information officer for South Bend police, confirmed freshman Isaiah Gardner, a defensive back, was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and senior Garron Bible, a former safety, was charged with resisting arrest.
2003 - In June 2003 an attorney for Chad DeBolt '03, '03MBA informed officials of his intent to sue the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office for personal injuries and civil rights violations. Florida law mandates that a lawsuit against a government agency cannot be filed until six months after such a notification letter is sent. According to DeBolt, officers at the Duval County Jail beat him following his arrest for trespassing at a nightclub in Jacksonville. Police said DeBolt was highly intoxicated and became violent. An internal investigation found that pepper spray and a restraint chair were used to contain him at his booking but that there was no wrongdoing on the part of police.
And the best for last. Their crown jewel recruit.....a report in the South Bend Tribune that Jimmy Clausen was cited by Indiana's excise police for transporting alcohol as a minor during a June 23 incident at Belmont Beverage, a liquor store near the Notre Dame campus.
So you can crawl back in your little ND bubble and pretend to be safe from the rest of the world while the rest of us own up that OUR school, as well as everyone else's all have players with issues. You keep looking at the rest of us through those shamrock green glasses and enjoy your losing seasons.
And in case you didn't notice the avatar, this is coming from an FSU fan. That's right, a Nole defending UF. Not the player, but the school. It's time for these "student"-athletes to take responsibility for their actions and have their futures as collegians taken away from them if they are not willing to act like adults. No more free rides for anyone no matter how fast they are, how well they run a pattern, tackle, block or throw a ball. And that includes anyone in Tallahassee. In fact, I am in favor of dismissing Preston Parker from the team due to his recent transgressions. Anyone who has read my thoughts on that subject know exactly what I'm referring to.
Only three more months until preseason camp!!
