Dawgs, my MOS was 11C with an "S" qualifier -- what is now an 18B. Special Forces weapons specialist. When I went through MOS training back in the '70's, we had to learn a bunch of old stuff, US and foreign. (Old then = ancient now. LOL!!!!) The BAR was included, as was the 1919 A-6 .30 caliber MG, a couple of the old Soviet and German "burp" guns. And, as an Armor guy, you'll love this: We even handled the "grease gun" -- the US submachine gun developed for WWII tankers
Wow, mortarman. When I was a Second Lieutenant, shortly after the Franco-Prussian War I was a Cavalry Platoon Leader in Buedingen, West Germany. Had 6 M551 Sheridan Armored Airborne Recon Vehicles, an Infantry Squad and 3 each 4.2 Mortars mounted in M113s. A real combined arms team. Yeah, and I hd my grease gun too. Couldn't hit crap with it, but it made lots of noise and hurt if it did hit you. I always figured if the bad guys got that close, it was all over anyway.
Yeah I remember when Sgt Saunders got killed in the crash. I remember his efforts to protect the kid.

JSS,
I may not have met you, in fact, I probably never will. But, you've gained my respect and I'm very impressed. Congratulations... Now, I know who to ask for help when I have to study for the BAR in approximately 8.5 years.
Do me a favor will ya, and bring the integrity back unlike so many comrades in the law profession?

Congratulations JSS! I don't know how Indiana issues bar results, but here in Georgia one gets his or her results by mail. You can also view them online, but the year I took the bar the mailed results arrived before the online grades were available. I will never forget how much my hands were shaking as I opened that envelope! It was such a huge relief to see the word "passed" in the letter.
It is no small accomplishment - take time to celebrate and enjoy.

Second Lieutenant, shortly after the Franco-Prussian War
Dawgs,
We need to reminisce about the F-P war. My A-team was advising the Prussians prior to the Battle of Sedan. The needle guns the Prussians used were a piece of crap, but the Krupp 6-pounder raised he!! with the French. LOL!!!
I remember one thing about the grease gun that made me uneasy: If you pulled the bolt to the rear, then carefully closed the dust cover, the next sucker that came along and opened the dust cover stood a good chance of hosing down his buddies. I never encountered one in the field, but I used to warn my guys, "Stay away from any M-3's lying around. Do NOT pick them up." Don't know why it was such a phobia for me. I guess b/c friendly fire, isn't.
And you are right -- Morrow tried to shield the kid. Gutsy to the end.

Thanks everyone, again! I cannot even tell you how much your support and kind words mean to me.
Hubster--Indiana simply puts a list of those successful candidates online for the entire world to see. There is no special log in, just on the State Judicial system website. It was quite an experience to open it and see my name!
I cannot imagine waiting for the mail...I am very happy for you as well. Take Care and Practice well!
JSS
