We need better hitting. Flat out. We have only two everyday players hitting over .250. That's just ridiculous. We have strong pitching. Our ERA is pretty good, and the fact that we are 12-1 when leading after the Sixth Inning, and our projected starting closer, Chad Cordero, has been injured all year, speaks volumes about our relief staff.  But with only Ryan Zimmerman and Cristian Guzman hitting, we can't survive. We need Nick Johnson to hit better, or we should get Dmitri Young off the DL. We need Austin Kearns to hit better, or we should bench him and start an outfield of Lastings Milledge, Wily Mo Pena and Willie Harris. Felipe Lopez is having a good year, but we are not sure if he can keep it up. Somebody call up special assistant Barry Larkin to teach these guys how to hit better. He's technically on staff, and his career average is .295.
