In my view, slapping FIU with probation is analagous to the U.N. imposing sanctions on Haiti. It is cruel and unusual punishment since FIU really does not have a future to begin with. The school is a waste of space and taxpayers money since there are already 4 other major universities in that South/Central Florida area and 8 other state universities. Most of all, FIU's football program is a waste of manpower and space as they were never worthy of playing in the Orange Bowl and they are a complete disgrace to football in the state of Florida. The state of Florida already has enough viable football programs considering the strong historical nucleus(UF,FSU, and Miami combining for 9 titles) and rising powerhouses dominating within their own conferences(UCF,USF, and FAU). With 6 solid programs, I question the need for FIU's existence because I doubt they will ever possess much of a fanbase in terms of an established group of ticketholders and boosters who will place exorbitatant capital into the program consistently. FIU's anemic play on the football field has also done little to galvanize any confidence in the direction of the football program as they have won like 2 games in the past 3 seasons. Their coach is a nutcase and their players are a bunch of classless dilapidated thugs as they proved when instigating the brawl a couple of years ago to a team that paid them 100,000 to get crushed in what amounted to be a scrimmage. I say the NCAA do us all a favor and give them the death penalty so they can save all Floridians from the chagrin of having to associate themselvies with an egregious clown sideshow disgusing itself as football and save the country from exposing themselves to such an atrocious display of football as watching them play football could soon replace cigarette smoking as the leading cause of cancer.
If someone made FIU to film the college football version of "Bad News Bears", please end your shooting NOW because you already found your climax when FIU performed the lone positive act in its program history by unofficially sending out the Orange Bowl with a winning home team.
