	During the off-season the Braves acquired Jair Jurrjens, and minor-league prospect Gorkys Hernandez from the Tigers in exchange for Shortstop Edgar Renteria. This now looks like an uneven trade seeing that Jurrjens is 4-2 with a 2.84 ERA and 36 Ks. On the other hand Edgar has been good for Detroit seeing that he is batting .280 with three homeruns and has 18 RBIs. Overall though Jurrjens has been one of our most consistent pitchers. He has yet to have a bad outing. What was Detroit thinking when they gave up this stud for an above- average hitter? I'm not trying to rub it in but Detroit was retarded for giving up him knowing that they lack pitching depth. The thing that they had enough already last year was offense, why did they get more. Thanks Detroit.

	I have been saying the same for months. Pitching wins! Yet most Tiger fans bought in to the Dombrowski plan of "Let's get a bunch of ex-Marlins". Should have signed Eckstein or someone else for SS and kept Jurjens. If Maybin and/or Andrew Miller develop for the Marlins, Dombrowski might go down as the dumbest GM in history. It is one thing to be aggressive and take chances...but...................

	Your welcome thekingjp. When we traded for Renteria I was happy, but giving up a guy with tremendous potential like JJ was a bit questionable. Last season, he filled in nicely, like Galarraga is right now for us, but I wanted to keep that guy at all costs. Moving Guillen to 1st to get Renteria at SS worked, but now hes awful at 3rd with the Cabrera switch. JJ is a guy that must be fun to watch!

	Ah yes, the old adage "pitching wins"!!! The Braves sure did prove that one true with all those World Series titles they won with arguably the greatest staff ever assembled..........wait.....

	Man, that is one intelligent comment. Care to look at all the Division and NL titles the Braves had. Got to get here to even be IN the World Series. BTW.....how are those Tigers doing with THIER pitching? LOL

	We had to make a move at short just imagine guillen out there this year. But I did like Jair from what I saw of him last year. Who knew every one of our starters would under-perform. I know my magic eight ball led me wrong when it said "seems unlikely".

	Division Titles and NLCS? Seriously? Nobody gives a flying f**k which organizations have the most Division Titles and LCS Championships! That just means they put together teams that were just good enough to loose in the playoffs. Consistant, solid pitching is definitly a good recipe to pile up wins over course of a long and grueling season, but it certainly isn't the only way. When it comes down to pitching winning World Series', the 1990's Braves are a glaring example of why sucessfull regular season pitching does not translate in the playoffs - plain and simple.

	Well Magheen - welcome aboard.......care to tell me when the Tigers had a 15 year run as good as the Braves? Oh....I see.....the Tigers will soon be scoring so often that ANY pitching staff could take them all the way to a World Series title. My point was more along the lines that a team needs solid pitching to have a chance of making the postseason. BTW...your statement of "Nobody gives a flying f**k which organizations have the most Division Titles" sounds typical from a fan of a team that hasn't had one since 1987.

	Hindsight is 20/20 and it is too early to determine who won the Renteria trade but lets face it Jair is not a fireballer and thats what Dombrowski prefers in a pitcher. Would it have been that bad if we had Infante or Santiago start at SS and Inge at 3B and keep Jurrjens, Miller, Maybin and a few others, who knows. Me personally I still think the trades will pay dividends because the Tigers landed a 24 year old hitter who is arguably top 5 in the game today to go with an already deadly lineup. My main reason for not hating the trade immediately is because the Tigers traded youth for proven youth in Miguel and Dontrelle. Tigers are not losing because of the Cabrera trade....they are losing because guys like Verlander and Bonderman seemingly have forgotten how to pitch.
