iLoatheLife... Thanks for the personal perspective from Sawgrass. I look forward to MORE in the coming days, and from the coming events. You have a LOT to offer. Thanks for sharing.
This course is a great looking place, but it is spread all out so much, it was hard to get to the practice areas and back to see players tee off. So we went straight to the 17th. Got there about 9;00am. (Those stands on the 17th, fill up fast.) We stood at the top of the GREEN stand, directly in front of the 17th green. The players had to walk under the stand to go to the 18th tee.
The wind was blowing today, so where we stood, against the rail, at the top, was not bad at all.
Did you see Cink's 57' birdie putt? The crowd went wild.
I don't know what all they were showing on TV, but some balls rolled to the very edge before they stopped. It is great to be in the crowd and be a part of the reaction when some hits the water, almost hits , and makes birds.
No autographs this time, The 18th green was too far away for me to run back and forth. So I didn't have to push some little kid out of my way!!
Your updates are well received.... thanks.!!. I commend your dedication to this message board. Here you are, attending the "Players", enjoying the 17th, and posting updates on the day's activities.
Go "soak-up" the golf atmosphere and enjoy yourself. . . .
Nice job ILG - Your descriptive of the 17th is better than the announcers were giving us. It's tough to tell how the shots are in the air, even with the HD. Sometimes the crowd reaction is the only sense of what's happening. The murmurs grow into a small roar as balls get closer to the water.
You should have free reign tomorrow for autographs, being Mother's Day and all. Happy Mother's Day.
Well all 5 of mine made the cut but only Phil has a realistic shot :Phil,A.Scott,Kresge,Allenby,P.Perez.But as a guy who lives golf how could you not pull for the upset of all time in Goydos who hasn`t even been in top 25 I think in a couple years.Don`t really think he has much of a chance as prolly his normal game will show up by the back nine Sunday but it would be great for golf also wouldn`t mind almost senior K.Perry winning but I`ll kindly pass on Sergio even if he wins
Well, It's over!!! The course and the wind "ate'm up" Only a few survived!! Was it skill or just luck? In the play off, Goydos's drive was "spot on" before the wind took over.
Garcia's comment about TW was great. What would TW had done, had he been there? We will never know, but Garcia was glad, but gave Tiger the acknowledge he deserves. Good job to both Garcia and Goydos.
I had a great time on 17, it was the only place to be. It is too bad fans can't have cameras. I could have gotten some good pictures.
My next dream is to be on the 16th, in Scotsdale next Feb. It will be just as exciting, except they BOO any shot that is not a bird.
Cher, if you happen to read this, I just went through your town "Atlanta" about an hour ago. Do you know where it says 75 North, three lanes right? Well when you get there, it is the right two lanes, not three. We got pushed off, and ended up in a construction area, not very good!! Finally got back on 75 north!! I know Augusta is the greatest PGA course, but Sawgrass has to be next best.
Oh....just noticed....that's my new AVATAR....since coming down to earth from being a superstar.....it's me.....holding a native art....Tiger with rings in wood.....a gift I gave to Tiger Woods some years ago.
Now, you have seen IHO, and Tim....how about the rest eh? ILG? BG? etc
051208 - iT didn't humble me Tim; it actually made me LMAO. All these guys trying to catch the 169th rated player in the world for 72 holes, must have been humbling to them, particularly the no.2 player, the inimitable Phil. It actually became laughable; he misses 3 footers as often as he chooses the wrong club from the tee on water holes. Humbled = no; embarrassing; yes
If you have never been to the World Golf Hall of Fame, it is the place to go, to find out about early golf. I had no idea that there were so many women golfers!!
Another thing, we have had discussions about equipment. Did you know some first balls were made of a leather cover stuffed with feathers? Some first clubs were all wooden, shafts too.
I think it would be great to have a PGA tournament, with the players using this old equipment. It would be interesting!!
