ESPNdude. 1st off you shouldn't be trying to showcase your NFL knowledge when you don't even know how many teams in the league. FYI there are 32 teams in the NFL not 30. Secondly, they obviously are/were gaining what BB would percieve to get an advantage from these tapes or he would'nt have risked getting caught and punished in the first place. Nor would he have wasted so much time in a fruitless act.

The Patriots are not vindicated they were proved to be just what they were punished for. They cheated end of story, I can't wait until Walsh finally meets with Goodell and we can all finally move on from this whole thing. They got punished pretty severely and I think all in all it was a fair punishment.

You all can forget about apolagies though. Why would someone apologize to you for? They called your team cheaters and your team admitted to being cheaters, what's wrong with that? In many peoples eyes the Patriots achievements under BB will always be tainted.

The taping of the Steelers must have really paid off in the 2nd half of the 2002 AFC Championship game, since NE scored all of 3 points in that half - same as they scored in the 2nd half of SB XVI.  What a joke.

Look at the games.  The main factor in winning almost all their big games was the same way all football games are won:  THEY DOMINATE IN THE TRENCHES!  When you push your man around and consistently deliver punishing hits - you win.  And that's how NE lost their last game, too.  It's so simple, but there it is.

I apologize for ever thinking the Patriots were legitimate winners.

I apologize for thinking the quarterback was as talented as he seemed.

The Pats cheated, were caught cheating and therefore had to forfeit their draft pick in the 1st round.......to make things worse/better, they were part of the biggest choke in SPORTS HISTORY......hell of a season.......hahahahahahahaha

actually it is common knowledge about the taping, former and current coaches have come out to say it as well....Jon gruden, Jimmy Johnson, John madden, mike Shannahan just to name a few.....The reason why they were punished so severe was, BECAUSE it was common knowledge, and Goddell wanted it stopped, he sent out a memo to EVERY TEAM in the NFL to stop doing it, and to only tape from the approved locations(not on the sidelines which the Patriots were doing)  AFTER the memo went out, Bill Belichick Still taped from the sidelines which upset Goddell, which in turn made him levy the largest fines ever in the history of the NFL so as no-one will attempt to do this again, NOT because it was the Patriots and onlythe Patriots doing this...hope that clears a few things up, but if you are a true hater, it won't make one bit of difference....

He still hasn't even met with Goodell yet. 

So funny to me that Patriots fans thinks this eliminates the cloud of doubt hanging over their 3 Super Bowls in the past decade.  Did Barry Bonds ever fail a drug test?  No but we all know he cheated.  Same thing here.  Only instead of 100% yes cheated, I'll put it at 80%
