Can you believe this?   In a season where more guys are stinking it up offensively.  One guy was actually trying to make the team (albeit as a 36 year old DH type).  He hit like .440 for us, and all we could do is cut the guy, then while on waivers, trade him to the Braves (for future considerations?  what does that even mean).  Once when I was 8, I traded a Stormshadow G.I.joe figure to a kid who promised me he had a good collection, and would get me something good (I never saw that kid again).

Now Norton goes out and wins a game for the Braves, with a bases loaded single.  Wouldn't it be nice to have a guy who could win games with hits?  Hell, wouldn't it be nice to just have a guy who can hit a single?  Wouldn't it be nice not to have six guys on the team batting below .220.

Everybody knows Norton was not the future of this organization, but jeez, all he did was play outstanding for us.  I like defense and base-stealing and youth as much as the next guy, but If nobody gets on base, it's all kind of useless.  Many on these boards were calling for the rebuilding of the Mariners---but this team is only one bases loaded single a week from being World Series caliber.  And we let him go to the Braves (who seem to give everyone over 35 new legs), as if I need to see them in the  playoffs ever again.

Oh my god will you give it a rest with the Greg Norton stuff. There's a reason he's a 36 year-old journeyman, pinch hitter extraordinaire, because that's all he is, and he would not be capable of saving this team. If we're gonna sit here and lament the fact that management gave up on Greg Norton, I'm gonna go put a bullet in mouth.

Right now the M's could really use a good pince hitter off the bench.  I would rather see Norton on this team still than Cairo.

they definetly shouldve kept Norton over Cairo both are journeymen and the excuse for keeping Cairo was stupid, who cares if he has become a mentor to Jose Lopez, one guy produced and Cairo belongs in the minors...but the Mariners are not even close to WS caliber dude...if it was only pitching that was there problem then possibly but you cant trade for 6 new hitters as opposed to one good pitcher and hopefully have your offense bail you out, anyone else sense there could eventually be friction between the pitchings versus the offense as there use to be Griffey getting pissed about the lack of pitching on the team
