He's been down in the minors now a few days. Why has he not pitched yet? It is just kind of suprising that he has not gotten in a game. Is he hurt? I have not heard anything?

Cards_68-

Since you are down there in that part of the state, have you maybe heard anything?

My understanding is that Anthony Reyes is back to being a starter at Memphis.  The Cardinals are apparently trying to boost his trade value as much as they can.  Reyes is certainly available in trade talks, but the Cardinals have asked for too much to get a deal done.

A trade would be best for the young man, in my view.

Zizzle4-

I have the same understanding as gomotigers. Since Reyes wasn't getting much work with the parent club and was starting to fall upon hard times again, he was sent to AAA Memphis to be a starter in hopes that that would increase his trade value. No, he is not injured, just waiting for his turn in the Memphis rotation.

My friend, the only things the sports media down here reports about Cardinal wise are the Springfield club and the parent club. We don't know much about the Memphis team. I wish they would report about the AAA club, since there are occasional demotions from Memphis.

Thanks for asking though. I will always do what I can to help.

They need to trade before he has no trade value.

I read on the Memphis Redbirds site that he pitched May 9th.  Pitched three scoreless innings giving up 4 hits, 3 walks, and  3  strike outs.   I agree it looks like they are converting him back to a starter probably  to then trade  him.

As of the time that I started this thread he had yet to pitch. Yes he did have three innings of scoreless work despite walking several batters. I read or heard somewhere that he is currently about 10th on the depth chart behind even Parisi and some others. As much as I hate to say this but the reason they are stretching him back out  to a starter is so they can trade him. I think that it is unfortunate that he will eventually be traded the kid has a load of talent but could never completely put it together as a major leaguer. Kind of reminds me of Ankiel as pitcher, all the talent but very wild at times.

Well he is pitching in today's AAA game. I have a feeling that he will have a dominate preformance.

Zizzle, you were close about being dominant.  Reyes looked pretty good tonight.  6 innings pitched, 1 earned run with 6 strikeouts.  He didn't earn the win but he pitched well.  Plus the guy hit a homerun helping his cause.  Hopefull Reyes can continue to have success at AAA and the Cardinals can use him as a trading chip.
