John Maine outdueled Brad Penny today and gave the bullpen a nice rest.

Great job Maine first D-Backs and now red hot Dodgers.

Even though the offense showed some life today I think the Mets will need more quality starts like this one to string together any sort of winning streak.  However, I don't really trust anyone else in the rotation to give us quality starts except for Santana - until the other starters turn around or come back from injury it's all in the hands of the shaky middle relief.

Let's see if the Mets can take care of business against the Reds and Nationals.

This is where the Mets need to win, against teams that they should beat....It would be nice to see a long win streak coming soon....but when they score a bunch of runs and we all think that this maybe the turning point, they come out a put up a goose egg or dont only score a few runs....

maine is good but Why is the Mets SP so bad...Johan was a waste, all they gave up was an all star in gomez to get an overrated aging bum in Santana...that trade will be one of the worst the mets ever made when it comes down to it...THEY NEED SP     people are stupid who think they need hitting their hitting is the best in the league but their SP and bullpen SUCKS...lets get some starters in here to get the team goin and help out the offense!

HOLY FREAKIN CRAP ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?!?

Man...you are screwed in the head. "Bum Santana?"

Yeah OK Gomez hit for the cycle...great...but he is completely undisciplined at the plate AND the field.

Santana has been very consistent and history shows he gets better the farther down the stretch.
Johan isn't even thirty and he's an "aging bum"? Careful, you might insult some of the posters on here who are over 30. Don't call people on here stupid buddy...it makes you sound like a 12 year old and their hitting IS NOT best in the league...jesus christ your entire post pisses me off due to how ignorant it is.

You sir...seem to be the waste.

How can you say santana isnt aging and declining...he had the worst year of his career last year and they sign him to a 7 year contract..BAD...while doing that they give up some key prospects and an allstar in gomez....johan has thrown too many innings these past 5 years and will get injured..hes due to go down and the Mets are paying him to do it..the mets need to trade him for a young sp and cut their losses with the guy...

Then go be a Twins fan so you can root for Gomez.

Santana is not even 30...his "worst" year is better than most peoples' better years. Why don't you do your research before you make asinine comments as you have. In all the 7 years we have him...I think he will pitch under-par for maybe 2...if that.

I'm sorry you have disbeliefs but Santana is better than Pelfrey right now...and your Boston statement you made on another thread pertaining to the younger pitchers...seriously dude...Santana, Maine, Perez and Pelfrey are ALL YOUNG. Even Figueroa is young...you MUST be a Phillies/braves fan or something because your statements do not make any sense and you seem to just want to argue which thus shows your stupidity.

Do us a favor...go cheer for the Yankees.
