Seriously, no arrests.  No whining about contracts or mini-camp holdouts.  Just the Giants locking up an o-lineman until 2013.  Which, by the way, is after the destruction of the world in 2012.  Ahem!  That is, according to the Mayan calendar and Al Gore.

As proven by successful teams in the NFL, success starts in the trenches.  Without solid protection for passing or cohesive schemes for run-blocking, your team will SUCK.  You know what I'm talking about if I'm talking about your team...

The Giants showed that a solid o-line with an attacking d-line can disrupt, control, and eventually determine the outcome of a game.  They didn't always do all three all the time, but when needed, good stuff happened.  Good enough to bring home this past year's Lombardi Trophy (shee-ite, I don't even capitalize god when I write!) and a bunch of big-arse die-ah-mond rings.

It's nice to see that Diehl will end up a Giant (fingers crossed) and with a nice chunk of change ($31M).

Or am I just pulling an Ace Ventura and talkin' out me arse?!?!?

I dont get why they even say 2013 they will end up cutting this guy in like 2-3 years the length of a contract in the nfl is laughable.

So hes a great team guy, hes a nice guy etc etc

but does keep Eli on his feet?

Look at the rediculous amount and quality of 12year franchize LTs coming through this year and especially next year. Look at the pass rushers (bigger, faster, stronger).

So you won a Superbowl, Diehl let up the second most sacks by an offensive lineman last season, he was only second to Lions LT Jeff Backus who has always had feel like concrete.

David Diehl is a guy who should be a guard who moved outside to left tackle because his team needed him there so the fact that he gave up the second most sacks in the league means the Giants need a premier left tackle so he can move back inside to guard.  I think this is a good thing either way. He has started at 3 different positions along this line during his career as a Giant. He is a team player, who has stayed out of trouble and didn't complain about not getting paid enough money. He is overall a good guy and solid player. I am glad the Giants resigned him he will continue to help this team out in the future and retire as a Giant. I may be an Eagles fan but I always love to see class acts get what they deserve.

You are an Envious and Jealous HATER!!!!!  I quote you, "So you won a Super Bowl"  ??????????  Isn't that the reason why they play the game??  And as for your other comment about him giving up the 2nd most sacks(i'd like to challenge that, but I gotta go watch the replay of the Giants winning the super bowl, in the biggest upset in the history of the NFL) anyway, my point is that he is great and can play any  position on the line.   SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS,  do yourself a favor and google the picture of the RING that the guy who gave up the 2nd most sacks is getting.   You have officially been SHIT ON for talking out of your ASS!!!!!!!

Reign,
Do you know what day it is?Because you sure don't know what you are talking about.
Way don't you have any teams listed for your favorites? Is it so you can jump on the bandwagons of teams that are doing well?
This is a great deal for the Giants or should I say a great Diehl for the Giants. The GMEN are going to be on the top of the NFC for years to come.
Thanks to that Eagles fan that gave us due props. No one says you have to like a particular team, but respect goes a long way.

OH,BTW Reign the are Superbowl Champs and the other 31 teams that you cheer for are not.HA!!!!

adamrules123, What's laughable is the Lions .PERIOD
Or should I say "Li-downs"
The Lions will not get anywhere close to a Superbowl as long as Millen and the Fords have anything to with that team.I have lots of friends that are Lions fans and they deserve better.I do have to admit that Lion fans are very loyal and the Fords don,t care as long as they fill that stadium.Which is one of the most beautiful stadiums I have been to.

Hey, the Gianjts deserve all the credit in the wo

rld!  I am not a Giants fan but I was cheering for them against the Pats and was so glad they won!

Hey, as a Vikings fan I have this consolation we gave your team its worst loss last year!  I wish we could get an NFL level head coach though, any coach that can lead a team as talented as our 7 pro bowl Vikes to an 8-8 record should not be in this league.

illz_skillz,

Google it and you can read all about it.  But the 'official' end is around 12/21/2012.

And for those of you bitter NYG haters, relax.  Can't we even enjoy a good story in the off season without being beaten down?  Sorry, I guess it should have been a drunken driving arrest or a wife-beating instead of more stability on the o-line.

Here's a 'feelgood' story for you: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=hill/080507
