I've noticed that many of us Giants fans are not from the tri-state area. I was curious as to how we all became Giants fans, especially living in other parts of the country.
I'll start. I was born in Flushing NY. When I was 6 my family moved to Connecticut where I was introduced to the Giants on CBS' local affiliate in Hartford. After college, I moved to Boston where I became a fan of the Celtics, Bruins, and Red Sox (please don't hold this against me). Several years later I moved to Los Angeles where I embarked in a career in the Entertainment Industry.
It's hard to see east coast games out here, thank God LA doesn't have a team so we can see other games from other areas. I have always been a fan of the Giants since growing up in the 70's in Connecticut.
I hope this thread isn't too presumptuous of me. I was just curious. If it is, please let me know and I won't pursue it. I realize some people haven't added any personal info on their profile for a reason.
I'd like to thank all the Giants posters for making this past season so much fun.
Go Giants!

Luka........Grew up in and played football in Northern Jersey in the mid 60's. Played college football in Illinois in the late 60's.....Hence the name Joy-Z-Mike...(which stands for a Jersey Boy who played the middle linebacker position). Been a devout Giants Fan since 1955 and was lucky enough to have season Tix for many years.
Been out in So. California 22 years........( Live and work in Diamond Bar/Rancho Cucamonga Area) I still travel to as many games as I can. Will definitely be going to the Arizona Game with the Big Blue Travel Crew!! See you there.

Born n raised Albany, NY. Watched the kick sail wide left when I was 8 rooting for the G-men, one of the first football games I watched...since I've always been about the home team, even if I didnt like the sport that much (baseball & hockey)...so Knicks, Mets, Rangers. Moved to Boston for college, as a sports fan I still appreciate their players and teams, but the fans pretty much turned me to root against them (tho KG, PP, RA deserve theirs, and the rest of the teams have some sick players & coaches). Now in LA doing music / audio. Funny, I've met more NY fans out here than back home...this SB was the first sporting event EVER that the crowd was rooting for the same team I was (why was everyone in upstate a Bulls fan!?).

Good question ChaChing,
I suspect the upstaters liked the Bulls for the same reason a lot of other people liked them who didn't live near Chicago. Just a fun team to watch. But then, the Knicks had a good team back then too. Could it be they didn't like Patrick Ewing from his Georgetown days?

Yeah, I'm one of those Jerseyans who absolutly can't stand New York. Two freakin' NY teams, and the only time they're ever actually in NYC is for the Super Bowl parades and the interviews. They play in NJ. They practice in NJ. The offices are in NJ. 95% of the players live in NJ. They only thing New York about them is the name and the history.
Grrr... I just had to get that out of my system. It actually doesn't bother me that much, the Giants are one of those teams that you can appreciaate no matter where you live. They have a working-class, underdog attitude and America is full of working-class underdogs.

It was probably cheaper to build a stadium in East Rutherford, NJ than White Plains, NY. But do you think there are a lot of Giants fans in other parts of the country who became Giants fans by watching them every once in a while like people became San Fran fans when they were winning? Most people I meet are either ambivalent towards the Giants or hate them because they are a fan of another NFC East Team.
