I'm not sure meek should have been sent down just yet. He hadn't given up a run in 3 straight starts after a rough start. They drafted him in the rule 5 draft for a reason and said he is in their future plans. I think they cut him too quickly, but thats just me.

Steelers=sb,

They must be working out a trade with Tampa. If they loved this kid enough to make him a 25 man roster guy to start the season, why give up on him now? I know it won't cost them a whole lot if we lose him but they had to see something other than his 92mph fastball . He must have some baseball smarts.

Has a rule 5 ever stayed with a team and become a serious player with that team? I know we kept Batista as a pitcher years ago and he went on to pitch for the Diamondbacks in the World Series......but there must be someone that has succeeded for the team that drafted them as a rule 5.

The biggest rule 5 player that I can think of is Johan Santana. Notables would be Josh Hamiton and Dan Uggla.

Sent Meek to the minors to work on control issues.  They wanted to give some potential starters some time in the bullpen in case Dumatrait doesn't work out.  Meek will probably be back sooner than later depending on how it pans out.  We got Malholm on the mound tonight to finish a rare sweep.  He looks good lately.  Come on Pirates lets go!

blackngold, I'd argue that Roberto Clemente was a bigger rule V pick, but that Santana guy is alright too.

It looks like they will purchase Meek's rights for the oft used cash considerations trade.  His 95mph fastball is certainly intriguing enough to keep him at AAA.

The bucs have invested some time into the guy at this point, I just hope they can work something out with TB to keep him.  Hopefully he will be back up in a year or two.

It looks like we kept Evan Meek.  We will now see if he can do something for us in the future.
