In light of Barry Zito being demoted to the bullpen in my opinion it raises the question, "Has Brian Sabean done his job?"  It is my opinion that he is still living off of the trade he made in 97 with the Indians.  I cannot think of another positive signing or trade he has made.  Oh wait, Benitez, that was a good one!!!   How nice over the past few years, dating back to 2003 would it have been to have Joe Nathan closing for us?

And this last signing of Zito.  I do not blame Barry, I tell you that.  If someone offers me way more money than I am worth, should I turn it down?  I can honestly say that I would take the money and not have nay problem doing it.  The problem is with the guy who offers the money.  And in this particular case did the Giants have no foresight at all??  You had to know you had Noah and Cain and Lincecum and Sanchez.  You really needed another pitcher??  Just stupid.

I am actually enjoying watching this team.  My expectations are low, but I like the speed of Lewis, Velez, and Burriss.  With Cain and Lincecum, they have such incredible stuff, a no no is on the table with each of their starts and Sanchez is in the same boat.  I just wish we could see more kids and less of the grandparents.  Give me Rowland, Molina and a bunch of kids.  Let them win 60 or 70 games if necessary, but let the kids develop and we might all be suprised.

Have you considered the fact that Sabean isn't the one who pushed for Zito or Bonds to be signed.  I think we'll see Sabes making a lot more of the decisions now that MacGowan's hands won't be in it.
