Ankiel is a freak of nature.  Sometimes it just amazes me how a guy can go from a stud pitcher to a stud batter and fielder.  In high school this dude must have the greatest athlete in their history.  Cubs Suck!

What does this do for the confidence of the Cards pitching staff when we have top 5 if not top three defense wise at CF, SS, C,and 1b? I realize I migh be being averly kind, but I don't thin I am that far off.

Both of those throws were outstanding to say the least. I dont think that I ever seen Jim Edmonds make a throw that was as nice as those. I loved watching Edmonds playing the outfield and make some wonderful catches but he never scared runneds with his arm the way Ankiel does.

we have top 5 if not top three defense wise at CF, SS, C,and 1bTop 5 at shortstop are you kidding me? Even if you talking about just the NL i wouldn't put Izturis in the top 5.  I guess you forgot about Jose Reyes, Hanley Ramirez, Tulowitski, Furcal. I would say even Theriot is a better short stop since he did take his starting job last season.

Lot's of guys have strong arms, the Upton brothers, Delmon Young, etc.

The thing that impressed me about the Rick Ankiel throws was the deadly accuracy.  Now, that was scary.  Few guys will test him from this point forward.

What, and your closer situation is that much better?  What's the over/under on Wood's next trip to the DL.  I bought a Cubs program last week and i swear that Woods position is listed as RP/DL!!  Even healthy right now Woods hasn't been lights out as a closer.

The big difference is that if we were to move Wood from the closer spot we have atleast 2 guys that would fit in very well. Who are you planning on using?
