What do you think the chances are that Blaine Gabbert will get a couple series to play every game? I think it is possible to have the same effect Tebow had his freshman year behind Chris Leak. If he isn't going to play at all, I would just rather see him redshirted. That way he could start in 2009 with 4 years of eligibility.

The coaches want gabbert to redshirt, however, he does not really want to, he wants the PT as most freshman do. Here is how I see it. When Daniel was a freshman, he got a few series' in, especially during that iowa state game, and it helped him a lot for his next year. It all depends on what the coaches want and how the team shapes up for the year after daniel is gone. If there are not much expectations after daniel is gone and the tigers are more worried about gabbert being the best he can be during his last years, they should RS him. If they are more worried about not having a dropoff after daniel is gone, then give him PT. Its all about what the coaches want to do after daniel is gone.

This guys looks like he is going to be awesome. That said, there is no telling how he will end up. He might get to practice this summer and be overwhelmed with the play book and more importantley the speed of the college game. MU has a very good backup to Chase Daniel. His name is Chase Patton. I played football with this guy in Columbia. He has a rocket arm and can move. He is about 6'5 225 lbs. He is alot like Gabbert. If Daniel gets hurt Pinkel would rather use Patton since he is a senior.

That is a tough one. Blain looks like he will be a great starter when it is time. I don't see them sitting Daniels unless it is a blow out and he would come in to mop up. I think there best option is the redshirt and start him after Chase Daniels graduates. I think the Tigers will get a lot of interest from top highschool QB's so long as they keep there offense gunning the way it was last season.

Id rather see Blaine dalton start as a true freshmen next year instead of blaine. Blaine was benched a few games this year was never really hurt. his little brother started over him. this man is a camp creation sort of like hazelwood west lamark brown if anys herd of him.

I don't see Gabbert getting much PT if he doesn't redshirt. This season will start with Chase Daniel a strong Heisman hopeful and will get all the playing time he needs to make that happen. I don't feel putting Gabbert in games where we're up by 3 or 4 touchdowns is going to give him a true game feel. He'd probably get better competition in practice scrimmages against our D anyway. There shouldn't be any worries or mention of the word "dropoff" regardless of what happens with Gabbert. This kid will be ready when his time comes and he'll have the supporting cast to be immediately successful. With that said, Pinkel will make the right choice with him. He's not going to make another mistake after living the through the Tony Temple debacle this off-season. I'm sure he's giving this more thought than we are.

Honestly, I would love Gabbert to redshirt so he would have 4 years of eligibility but I could see him being handled like Daniel was when he was backing up Brad Smith as a freshman. I could see him spelling Daniel for a series or two just to change things up like Florida did with Leak and Tebow but it would be better for him if Gabbert redshirted so he could start for 4 years.

Gabbert separated his shoulder in the 1st game of the season. He didn't fare well with it, but wasn't terrible. Then he got turf toe, so they benched him for the rest of the game.

Gabbert separated his shoulder first game of the season, then got turf toe 2 or 3 weeks later, so they benched him.

Maybe some mop up work. I can't see Pinkel not letting his prize player do whatever he can to get that Heisman Trophy and dare I say a National Championship !! GO MU !!!

Am I the only one worried that Gabbert has all the measurables, but come from a High School that has had little to no success? There is something to be said about knowing how to win. You can have all the measurables in the world, but if you can't win the game, or make the play it really does not matter.
I am hoping Daniel can rub off on Gabbert next year, and let him see what winning is all about. I was big on Chase Daniel when he commited because of his High Schools winning tradition, and I am big on Blaine Dalton's verbal commitment as well for the same reason.

Gabbert can only do so much, his team wasnt exactly loaded with talent last year, as many top QBs in HS have. I think the best thing you can do is look at his highlights. He seems to make all the throws and has a cannon for an arm. I think the fact that he is learning from the best at running the spread offense will be huge for him.

The Mizzou offense is not set up for Blaine Gabbert. He is a pro style QB and MU runs a spread offense. If he is smart, he will redshirt and wait until Chase Daniel moves on so Pinkel can adapt the offense to Gabbert's style of play.

That is a bit of pipe dreams afwend. Pinkel runs the spread offense, changing it a few years ago from a pro style to the spread. Hes not going to change it back when they have had so much success with it. As for gabbert being a pro style QB, pro style quarterbacks can go to the spread with realative ease, because the reads are easier and you have more options for open receivers. If gabbert was a spread quarterback going into a pro style offense, I might be more worried, because that is much harder to make the transition to because it is more difficult to run. Gabbert will do fine, hes learning from the best.
