seems like Tom Crean brought the whole Marquette staff with him. makes you wonder how good Marquette wouldve been had they had Indiana recruiting ability?

im actually pretty impressed at what we've got coming into next two years. by rival.com standards

2008
PG V.Jones (Letter) *** and 127th overall
SG N.Williams (Letter) *** and 146th overall
C    T.Pritchard (Letter) ***
SG M.Roth (Letter) ***
SG D.Dumes (Letter) JC

2009
SG M.Creek (Solid Verbal) **** and 63rd overall
SF D.Elston (Solid Verbal) **** and 96th overall
PF B.Capobianco (Solid Verbal) ***

plus we have top 10 players that have us high on their list as well for 2009. #4 stephenson has us #2 on his list behind duke.

Were going to be in good shape.  We should se a drastic improvement from the 08-09 season to the 09-10 season.  Crean will still land a player or two for the 2009 class and there is a lot of talent in the class that has Indiana near the top of their list.  I think we will improve a great deal over the course of next season and with the minutes that will be available everyone will get valuable in-game experience.

It is really clear to Crean that in-state talent should be a priority and a part of the focus of recruiting.

I think he will handle things well. Crean's done well so far handling very difficult situations.  I think he will brng in a good staff and recruit some quality kids. I even think he can take some kids that were not the highest rted and turn them into winners.  Just like good investment decisions, you go by principles and not performance in the short run. If the principles are right, the perfomance will be a positive by-product in the long term.  Good ridance to Eli and the rest.  Lets get out all the cancer and start fresh!

well the sum of a team is more important then the individual pieces. bobby knight rarely recruited the top talents because he always claimed they were more about themselves then the team. like cheaney he wasnt a great nba player but he was a great college kid. maybe crean is trying the knight approach, finding the best talent thats winning to play 3-4 yrs instead of one and done?

I agree - Crean needs to find the kids who'll be outstanding college players.  The way the NBA is today, all the kids who'll be top pro players are gonna be one-and-done.  I absolutely despise the one and done rule - players who only come to college because they have to add nothing to the college game.  Let them go to the pros and leave some space for the kids who actually want to commit to a college team.

they did the straight to NBA thing and it hurt just as much cause players would sign a scholarship with a college team then decide to the nba. i think if a guy gives a verbal agreement he shouldnt be allowed to back out to go into the nba. they need to choose 4 yrs of college or straight to the nba without a scholarship not get both a scholarship offer and go to the nba. all it does is hurt teams recruiting, doesnt hurt the player.

With all due respect...anyone who dares attatches themselves to the great program of IU...becomes a Hoosier...I see what you are saying....

I'm just saying...Hoosiers are much greater than Golden Eagles anyday anytime

Tom Crean is a great recurit guy. He recuirted Dominc James from Richmond Indiana. I think IU is going to be even better since we got a guy who will get in State players. Our recruits the next two years are pretty amazing.. I think IU will be in the top ten in 2009..
