Heres the latest power poll from Sean Deveney. He moved the A's down one spot to 8th this week. I personally think we should be above the Mets, but I am not going to complain to much as long as were rated in the top 10. The one thing that does bug me is that everyone is still ranking the Yankees in the top 10 and they have in no way showed that they deserve that high of a ranking, other then spending 230 Mil this year.
1. Arizona Diamondbacks. Scherzer … Scherzer … Scherzer …
2. Los Angeles Angels. Doesn’t seem like long ago that we were pondering Ervin Santana’s future as a closer. Let’s ponder his present as a starter: He’s 5-0, 2.48 ERA heading into his start Monday night in Kansas City.
3. Boston Red Sox. They’re still just 6-8 on the road, which should make the 10-game road trip they start tonight an interesting one.
4. Philadelphia Phillies. Moyer … Moyer … Moyer …
5. St. Louis Cardinals. Just once, it’d be nice to see Rick Ankiel throw a ball in to second base, but have him throw it as a curveball. I miss that curveball.
6. Los Angeles Dodgers. I managed to burn the sound of Vin Scully saying, “Hong-Chih Kuo,” onto a CD, and I now play it over and over right before bed. I’ve never slept so soundly.
7. New York Mets. Carlos Delgado hit his fourth home run on Saturday. Let’s tip our caps to him because, lord knows, he won’t tip his cap to us.
8. Oakland Athletics. Not long ago, the A’s starting rotation featured Tim Hudson, Barry Zito, Mark Mulder, Ted Lilly, Aaron Harang and Rich Harden. They dumped Harang because they didn’t think the guy could pitch. Turns out, he’s the best of the bunch.
9. Chicago Cubs. Big six-game stretch against the Brewers and Cardinals, and what do the Cubs do? Cough up a 2-4 loogy.
10. New York Yankees. Darrell Rasner, Yankees savior. Mark it down. 4-0, 0.87 ERA in Class AAA this year. Now, 6.0 innings, two runs to get the win in his ‘08 debut. Hank, are you watching?
