Well its no suprise we are the underdogs again since we are going up against a team which many people claim gave up the 1st place title so they did no have to play the Flyers and they could take on Ottawa.

So as a Flyer fan do you think they were scared of the Flyers? Think they still are? No offense to the Penguins fans out there but so far you haven't really played a good team. Ottawa straight up stinks. No goaltending, no defense, Fischer and Alfredsson out. Then the Rangers who have so many top names, but cannot score for their lives. They relied on Lundquist and a suspect defense to carry them and it only worked for one game.

Flyers had to face Ovechkin and the Caps. With a pretty solid goalie in net with Huet. MVP and possibly rookie of the year candidate. Then the #1 team in the East in Montreal with a solid offense, top shot blocking team, veterans, explosive offense, all around solid team...except for the achilles heal...Carey Price. Montreal hurt it self by getting rid of Huet and putthing this much pressure on a young goalie. Flyers took advantage of it and just kept fighting.

So even though the Flyers were only picked twice out of 12 (4 experts, 3 rounds) they have found a way to shock everyone and make it this far. But they deserve it. They are a team with 7+ 20 goal scorers and a veteran goalie that is showing he can lead a team. In both series they have had different people step up and carry the team and we can only hope that all 4 lines continue to show up and play well.

It will be one hell of a series and in my opinion, I feel the Flyers have nothing to lose because last year they were the worst team in the NHL. Glad to see them get this far.

I hope that the series is not biased towards Crosby, and that the series is called fairly so these two teams have a fair shot at winning.

No Prediction from me, but Go Flyers!!!!

I like the points you made Legion, and they are all good, but the Flyers have not beat a team like the Penguins...yes they beat Montreal who was the one seed, but tell me would you rather have played Pitt in the second round? no because motreal had a 21 year old goalie, and that's why they lost.  And washington was the three seed but everyone knows if they were in a different division they would not have even made the playoffs...literally, they would not have had enough points...and maybe the pens did flop a game to play Ottowa (i think they were just trying to be cautious before the playoffs with their ailing stars) but i in no way or form believe they are even remotely afraid of the flyers...so philly has the regular season edge? most of those games were played without crosbey, fluery, Gill, Roberts, Dupious, and hossa so I wouldn't point to that...yes the flyers have played better competiton, but i believe the rangers would have beat them if they played each other in the second round.  It will be a good series but i would be shocked if pitt lost...you just cant count on biron being that hot against the pens powerplay and count on guys like Umberger to score nine goals a series, it just wont happen against pitt, but i guess anything is possible...

PS--please excuse my bad spelling im in a hurry and had to get this off my chest

I KNOW WHAT YOUR SAYIN LEGIONX. ONCE AGAIN THE FLYERS ARE NOT GIVEN ANY CREDIT FOR WHAT THEY DID IN THE FIRST TWO ROUNDS AND NOW THE EXPERTS ONCE AGAIN THINK THAT THIS TEAM IS GOING TO BE TOO MUCH TO HANDLE. THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS THAT STYLE WISE MONTREAL WAS THE WORST POSSIBLE MATCHUP FOR THE FLYERS AND WE GOT THROUGH IT IN FIVE GAMES. WITH THE WAY THE PENGUINS PLAY I BELIEVE IT WILL GIVE US A CHANCE TO GET OUR TRANSITION GAME GOING MUCH LIKE WE DID IN THE END OF THE MONTREAL SERIES. SURE THE PENGUINS ARE A GOOD TEAM BUT I THINK, LIKE IN THE MONTREAL SERIES, THEY ARE PUTTING THERE HOPES IN A GOALIE THAT FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN SO FAR IN THE PLAYOFFS IS PRONE TO GIVING UP A SOFT GOAL. FINALLY, THE PENS WILL NOT OUTSHOOT THE FLYERS LIKE THE CANADIANS DID, THE FLYERS HAVE THE SIZE AND PLAY PHYSICAL ENOUGH TO WEAR DOWN THE SPEEDY PENS AND THROW THEM OFF THEIR GAME, AND IN CASE PEOPLE FORGOT WE HAVE JUST AS GOOD A SCORING ATTACK AS THE PENGUINS AND ARE JUST AS DEEP DEFENSIVELY. LOOK FOR IT TO BE A GREAT SERIES WITH THE FLYERS COMING OUT ON TOP. IM NOT GOING TO MAKE A PREDICTION I GAMES CASE THAT NOT MY STYLE.

LETS GO FLYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOST TO FIRST BABY

yak75,

I dont count regular season at all really just a stat i through out there. Its a completly different game now. Look at Montreal PP they were #1 and stunk in the playoffs. Look at the Flyers PP though. They are what #2 still behind Pitt? Flyers out played the Canadians 5v5. Everyone said that there is no way the Flyers could get penalties and survive against Montreal but look they did. I think they can do against Pitt too. Just have to be smart.

Pitt has a dangerous team no doubt. But honestly I think out of all the matchups in the East the last thing the Penguins wanted was to play the Flyers. I know the Capitals would not have made it but they did. They even played us better then the Canadians did. Washington had more possesion and attack time and shots then the Canadians did. I think that if the Flyers can get the Penguins off their game and get them to play a physical game and keep the shots low...then Biron should have even less work this series. But honestly, maybe thats a bad thing. Biron has been striving on getting a lot of shots, personally I think he likes more shots. Example: Last game he gave up 4 goals and the difference in the game? The Flyers actually outshot the Habs...I think if the Flyers keep the 1 shot and done method they have had all post season then they will be fine.

Fleury would make me worried being a pens fan. He is known to go on streaks where he just cant stop a beach ball. Soft goal after soft goal goes in. If Flyers come out and get in his face and get him and his team off their game this series could get real nasty and play into the favor of the Flyers....that is if they dont come out of every scum shorthanded like they usually do.

Like I said nobody expected the Flyers to beat the Caps, nobody expected them to beat the Habs, and Nobody expects them to beat the Pens. So in my eyes the Penguins have everything to lose where the Flyers (for me atleast) are just showing me straight up determination, guts, heart and dedication to making an amazing turn around season.

If Flyers lost in 4 I would still be proud as hell to be a Flyers fan but i just think it will be an awesome series.

O and yak,

Nobody counted on Biron to keep it up against Montreal...but he did...so I will count on him to keep it up against the Pens. Also, Flyers are getting scoring from everyone and Umberger really stepped it up and has always played well against Pitt. The good thing with the Flyers is, is that there is not one man to target on this team...there are several.

Penguins are similar but i think the majority of the penguins game relies on Sid, Sykora, Malkin and Hossa.

is there any proof they lost on purpose to face Ottawa?

i dont think they would have but...isnt it better to play a weaker team??

if they did so what...If the Flyers were in the same position and they were accused of losing on purpose..would you care if they did?  I dont think you would care.

one thing for sure..this series will be better than any possible Stanley Cup matchup!

LETS GO PENS!!!

Again.....if the Pens were trying to throw that last game to not have to play Philly, don't you think Philly would have managed to score more goals than TWO against a hated cross-state rival?  And one of them an empty-netter that took three shots to get in?  And considering that the Flyers looked like they didn't show up to play either does that mean Philly was in on it too?  sigh....Pens rested Crosby and sent the message to the team that being healthy for the playoffs was more important then winning the conference.  And it showed.  No idea why the Flyers played the way they did.

And again....yes the Pens played weaker teams than Philly.  That's what happens when you have a higher seed....you play lower seeded teams.  And the Pens went 8-1 against those two teams.  Sorry they didn't sweep both series.....obviously they screwed up big time.

Keep playing up the 'no one respects us and gives us any credit' line.  Most people know both teams are playing great hockey right now.  And that this should be a fantastic series.  And could easily go seven games.  But picks have to be made.  And most are saying what I just did.  There is no disrespect being given.

My pick...I believe if the Pens play close to what they are capable of, like they have for about the last 3-4 months, they shouldn't lose a seven game series to anyone.

And I'm pretty sure Flyers fans are thinking that way about Philly too.

Pastor and NFB,

I never said they through the game, I personally agree with you that if they were to through the game wouldn't it be more than a 1-0 game. Flyers sat Briere as well because they knew they were in and that was the main goal. No point in losing more players in a final game that didn't cost either team a playoff spot.

I think its going to be a hell of a series. Obviously the Flyers did have a harder ride because they finished lower and thats how its supposed to be. But all of that doesn't matter its a new series its like a whole new game now. Every Penguins and Flyers fan knows how heated and how great the games are between these two teams. I just hope that they continue to be great games and hope for a fair series.

Please don't make it seem like I am taking anything away from the Penguins either. They are a solid team and it will be the toughest match up yet for the Flyers. Hossa, Malkin, Crosby, Sykora, and Malone are harder to stop then Kovalev or Ovechkin, and Fleury is harder to score on then a poor little scared 20 year old.

Also, I don't want the experts to pick the Flyers. I want to be the underdogs. I want it to seem like nobody is picking the Flyers, because if they do win then they shock everyone, but if they lose well they weren't supposed to win so life goes on. I think the Flyers just play better knowing they are the underdog. So please don't take me as whining about not getting respect. Were the 6th seeded team what would most people expect from a 6th seeded team? Lose in the first round and if not then def the second.
