All I have to say is...who expected this kind of production from our pitching?  Amazing really, considering the circumstances.  John Lackey and Kelvim Escobar, 19 and 18 game winners of 07, go down, and our other guys step up.  Ervin Santana is now 6-0 after a CG SO of the Royals. His stuff was amazing, and what great location. What road woes?

Joe Saunders is also 6-0, with great mechanics, and judgement of his power pitches. Weaver has been a tad shaky, but I don't expect him to stay down for too long.  Jon Garland for Orlando Cabrera is starting to look like a good deal now.  At the time, it seemed like such an even deal, and really didn't benefit either club. (I was a big critic) Now, Garland is a steady eating inning pitcher, and Cabrera is in a major slump (batting somewhere in the lower .200's). If Garland can pitch like he did against the Orioles the other day, I'm loving this trade even more.

And John Lackey will be back soon!

Projected Starters:

John Lackey, Jered Weaver, Joe Saunders, Ervin Santana, and Jon Garland.

Bullpen:

Scot Shields, Darren Oliver, Justin Speier, K-Rod, Bootcheck, Moseley

Downright scary....Go Angels!

Didn't expect those guys would be this good, but it sure is fun to watch.

A LOT of ball left to play though, nice starts are nice, but you gotta finish strong too.

You guys know I have to say it! How about Brandon Wood? back to back with GA I love Angel baseball! Plus Tori his exceeding expectations right now. Can you guys imagine once we get Lackey back and Vlad decides to hit? This team is sick!

You have to love the consistent contribution from that AAA squad whether it be pitching or position players.  Let's hope Adenhart can shake off that rough first outing and pitch more like himself.

Our pitching has only been fair at best other than Joe, and santana...Weaver has been a Joke so far this year..8 run in 3.1 verses the Royals LOL....Nick can't hit the strike zone, although I hve high hopes for him.....Garland has been hit or miss.

All in all I'm happy with our start.  However we still need some pitchers to get back to heathly

bigpair,

I will definitely agree with you that our starting pitching hasn't been great past Garland.  But look at it like this...Saunders and Santana were supposed to be our back of the end guys. These were the guys who were supposed to get the negative results, if any, but they didn't.  They are both at a start of 6-0, basically picking up the slack for any other miscues the other starting pitching has had. Also, our bullpen is fantastic. Scot Shields hit the weight room in the offseason (he hasn't done weight training in 5 years). It's shown in his results, and he's pitching more like a couple years ago than last year.  Oliver and Speier ain't bad either. Jered Weaver will pick it up, and John Lackey is due back very soon. 1st in the AL West, best road record in the majors, and all this without being healthy...the best is yet to come.

Go Angels.
