This is not an NHL thread, sorry. This is a "secret" NBA playoff thread for the real posters of the NBA board. The point of this thread is for posters with demonstrated knowledge to be able to talk with each other about the finer points of NBA basketball without having to worry about accussations of Homerism, or hearing about Lebron v. Kobe v. Jordan or any of that other crap. The thread is open and hopefully will address many topics.

I apologize if I forgot anyone who is now here, but I sent out like 20 personal invitations and got a little lost on who I had told and whatnot. Just to get the conversation rolling, what do you think that the keys to the Spurs/Hornets series are?

Thanks for the invite Pete...
You screwed up tho on the pm to me and it is out there for the public to see...
New Orleans are a real deal championship contending team. I think they should target Igoudala in the off season (if they can afford him). Getting AI there will make them an elite team for several years to come.

The Spurs need to quit playing Duncan at the 5. He's getting bullied around because he's the only low post threat on the floor for most of the game.

Thanks peter, this is a great idea.
I'm very excited to see how the Celtics vs. LeBron James', I mean Cavaliers, series turns out. Along with every Pistons/Magic game, I will be watching every single one of those as well. I don't think anyone would have guessed it, but so far the Eastern playoffs have been more exciting than the West.

The Spurs need to Try and utilize Oberto more in the offense.

Did I really? Crap. Oh well, hopefully no one questionable follows the link. I think Iggy is a little too offensive minded for the Hornets. I think they need more of a Tayshaun (who doesn't though right?) to lock down the scary 2 guards out west (ginobli, Kobe, TMac, etc.)
AND I TOTALLY AGREE ON DUNCAN. He is getting worked downlow and when the Spurs are at their best, he is at the 4 (like when David RObinson was there.)
Still, if you are the Hornets you can't bet on Duncan having another game 1 type day throughout the series even if he is at the 5.

The problem with Oberta is his stone hands. And since the Spurs do so much off of Parker's driving, a guy like Oberta has to be able to make some tough catches and finish. He's a good finisher but he just can't make the passes. And I just don't think you can run too many offensive sets through Oberta.

The only problem with SA utitlizing Oberto in the post, that's not the kind of player he is. Oberto is just complementary to Tim Duncan. He does all the scrapping, screening, he's just a role player. I think SA may have finally met their match. New Orleans is a team that will not back down. Chris Paul is one of the toughest SOB's I've seen in awhile and that chip on his shoulder will get him some glorious achievements in this league. New Orleans is ready now, something I doubted before the playoffs, but completely take back.
I'd say my power rankings right now for those left in the playoffs would be:
1a. Lakers - So far 5-0 and looking very tough to beat.
1b. Hornets - Man handled Dallas in the first round, and did that in game 1 vs. SA
2. Spurs - Abused Phoenix in round 1. They'll have to adjust to NO now, good thing they have Pop, he'll have the defending champs ready.
3. Pistons - Despite being very unimpressive vs. Philly, came out and played championship caliber ball vs. Orlando.
4. Celtics - Needed 7 games to put away Atlanta. They need to re-prove themselves in game 1 vs. Cleveland.
5. Jazz - Took them 6 to beat an undermanned Houston team. Boozer has had a very disappointing post season.
6. Cavs - As long as they have Lebron....

Oberta, hahaha funny.
He atleast as to make himself a presense in the paint......As well as Thomas. If they can't......Then Ginobili, Finley, and Bowen better make their three pt shots because Tim Duncan will probably see double teams the rest of the series.
